HomeMy WebLinkAboutFT Calcs for Hamilton County                DESIGN CALCULATIONS  O.F. HENLEY DRAIN PLANS  Hamilton County Surveyor’s Office         DITCH SECTION:  The two‐tiered ditch section and the low‐water crossing configuration was presented to the Hamilton  County Surveyor’s Office on 5/20/14; and was approved on 6/11/14.       DES: JMJ DATE: 12/16/14 CHK: MAK DATE: 12/17/14 DES: JMJ DATE: 12/16/14 CHK: MAK DATE: 12/17/14   LOW WATER CROSSING STRUCTURES:    The proposed structures at the low‐water crossings are 5 ft. x 2 ft. precast reinforced concrete boxes.  Articulating Concrete Mattresses will be used as the surface of the crossing. The Mattresses will butt  against the sides of the box culvert and the crossing vehicles will drive on the tops of the box culverts.  The low‐water crossing configuration was analyzed to verify no adverse impacts to the detention  system. The box culvert will convey storm flows of an approximate 10 year storm or less. Greater storms  will overflow the low‐water crossings.   The ponding elevation in the proposed detention pond will increase for the 2 year and 10 year storms.  There are no adverse effects anticipated for the 100 year ponding elevations.       DES: JMJ DATE: 12/16/14 CHK: MAK DATE: 12/17/14 Designed: AF 12/10/14 Checked: JJ 12/10/14 Detention Design Report - Amended West 146th Street Added Travel Lanes From 1,000’ west of Towne Road to 1,000’ west of Ditch Road Des. No. : 0810287 Hamilton County, Indiana Detention Design Report-Amendment Summary This summary is an amendment to the original Detention Design Report prepared in December 2010, which is herein incorporated by reference. Due to the division of work between the OF Henley drain improvements on the south side of 146th Street and the 146th Project itself, some modifications to the design were requested by the County Surveyor’s Office. Those modifications were added to the detention system model to verify no adverse impacts to the system were anticipated. Of specific note, was the addition of several field crossings downstream of the proposed wet detention basin south of 146th Street near Station 222+00. The channel crossings are proposed to be made with the use of 5’x2’ box culverts with fill on each side. The proposed wet detention basin, PR- DET2 in the model, uses an 8’x3’ box culvert to control flows into the channel downstream. The first proposed ditch crossing was added to the model to confirm there were little to no effects on the proposed detention basin, channel or downstream subdivision known as Saddle Creek. Although there are several proposed ditch crossings between the discharge of the wet detention basin and the Saddle Creek Lake 4, the first downstream of the detention basin was added to the model to verify the effects on the proposed detention basin. The first crossing, labeled as FieldXing1, in the model was added as a 5’x2’ box culvert, 12 feet in length with an upstream end at station 21+69 and downstream end at 21+57 “PR-OFH”. In addition to the culvert link being added, a weir link was added to model the field crossing itself in events where the 5’x2’ box was inundated. The irregular cross section was developed from the proposed plans and Typical Cross Section Ditch Crossing detail. The modified ICPR model shows that the 2 year and 10 year proposed wet detention basin elevations were increased as shown in the tables below.
