(Or, will it sit right on the property lines?) 2) Please provide us with the filled-out Notice of the Public Hearing form/template (found in Handout, page 5). You will get an email when it is done being reviewed, with a new Task, and then you will be able to accept the task, upload additional documents and respond to any additional review comments (if any), and then either complete the task or save the task. Please sit tight. I agree, the variance process has a lot of little steps, but it is do-able. To answer your other question, if you were simply performing maintenance of the existing fence, (i.e. replacement of boards but mostly keeping the original structure), the 8’ would be allowed to remain. But, a new (replacement) fence must meet the current code standard of 6 feet without a variance. (Please see UDO section 5.09 - Fence and Wall Standards for all fence regulations that might apply.) It says "no tasks are available at this time". Am I to wait for a task or an email or something? In the meantime... This is quite an undertaking, both in cost and time. My 8' fence has been in place for 30+ years so it's a bit frustrating. Since the fence has existed for so long, long before the 6' rule, I'd like to check into getting it grandfathered without a variance. All I'm trying to do is fix-up my aging fence. Is there a way to officially be grandfathered or do I just do repairs to the existing fence and hope that the City doesn't come after me? I recall that you (Angie) said in a previous email that it's "probably" grandfathered but can I attempt to get something more certain than that? Thanks, Jim Trachtman 1
