RE: Docket No. PZ-2022-00117 PUD: 96th and Haverstick PUD Rezone.
To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing in opposition of the proposed PUD rezone for our neighborhood located at 96th and
Haverstick Road by Estridge Development Management
Our homes are mostly single-story homes and a 3-story building as indicated in the plan does not fit with
the character of the established neighborhood.
The proposed area is very small for the number and size of the proposed units and will destroy mature
tree canopy and wildlife habitat which does not coincide with Objective 1.5.4.
Objective 1.5.4: Encourage the preservation, replacement and continual planting of canopy
shade trees throughout the city. Areas of focus include woodlands within new developments,
streetscapes, and parking and open space areas. Care and maintenance of the trees and
landscaped areas should be a priority to ensure a safe and longstanding environmental system.
Canopy trees are desired because they add character and comfort to the built environment.
They also provide relief from heat, soften noise and light, help purify the air, and increase
property values.
Increased traffic is also a concern on this two-lane road. This is a small area adorned with beautiful
mature trees that has seen an increase in traffic which will only increase once the large housing
development is completed on the southside of 96th Street at Westfield Boulevard. The proposed
entrance/exit onto Haverstick is too close the existing roundabout and neighborhood driveways.
All in all, the plot of land at the corner of 96th and Haverstick is far too small for a development of this
size and this rezoning should not be approved!
Sincerely,
Amy and Shawn Bruntlett
