OeA _ 96`h Street Roundabout SCUIptUreS — Descriptions and Dimensions The Marmon Sculpture - at Delegates Row The sculpture honors the Marmon Wasp, which won the first Indy 500 in 1911. It is also inspired by the "wonky wheel wasp photo" and US stamp that celebrate this world-famous car. The over life-size, abstracted, open -framework -sculpture of the vehicle slants dynamically forward. The artwork sits only on its rear wheels; its front wheels rise off the pedestal to further emphasize speed. The rectangular base is finished in Indiana limestone and brick, (possibly original IMS Brickyard bricks). Limestone inset panels on each long side frame custom signage. The base's sloping sides raise the sculpture over five feet above grade, protecting the artwork and enabling it to be viewed clearly. The sculpture and base together will measure around twenty-five feet long and over twelve feet high. Like the Marmon Wasp, the sculpture will be painted yellow and black, its powder -coated framework will be illuminated at night. Sculpture dimensions: Height, 8' approx. Length, 22' approx. Base dimensions: Length, 25' approx. Height 5' minimum. Base/foundation: IMS Brickyard salvaged bricks or similar and Indiana limestone over reinforced concrete, includes 2 limestone insets on long sides for stand-off signage. The Auburn, Cord, Duesenberg Sculpture - at Priority way Inspired by designer, Gordon Beuhrig's drawings from the 1920s and 30s, the sculpture features silhouettes of famous Auburn, Cord, and Duesenberg cars. Arranged on three curved stems and tapering like feathers, they ascend towards a star -shape, inspired by the "boat tail" several of these cars featured. From this, in a "burst of achievement", emerge gears, pistons and wheels mounted on slim stems; symbols of the companies' ground -breaking innovations. At night, the thirty-six feet -high sculpture is illuminated by LED spotlights. Its star and symbols feature internally -lit multi -colored sparkling dichroic lighting, similar to the artist's first commission for Carmel, "Beacon Bloom". Sculpture dimensions: Height, 36' approx Base dimensions: Each side length, 16' approx. Height, 5' minimum. Base/foundation: 3 x cylindrical concrete footings, 4' diameter approx. Retention wall: A three -sided retention wall of concrete and Indiana limestone surrounds the cylindrical footers and supports signage. The Stutz Sculpture - at Grey Road Inspired by the Stutz "Ra" Art Deco hood ornament from 1925, this sculpture enlarges the head to around sixteen feet high. It will be elevated on a five -foot -high concrete and stone base. Using dozens of sheets of steel, the head is sculpted in vertical layers or slices with spaces between them, creating an ethereal light -permeable abstract form. At night the artwork is illuminated from within using colored LED's or the artist's signature -colored dichroic-filtered light sources. Sculpture dimensions: Height 15' approx. Width, 20' approx (nose to wing tips) Base dimensions: Cylindrical, diameter., 18' approx. Height, 5' minimum. Base/foundation: Indiana limestone or darker stone over concrete, includes support walls for signage. The Studebaker Sculpture - at Hazel Dell Parkway In a dynamic composition that takes cues from Studebaker's famous "Lazy S" car badge from the 1960s, three tapering forms rise to the sky. The sinuous large, medium and small forms vary in height from eighteen to thirty-six feet high. As moving drivers view the artwork, the elegant, diamond -sectioned trio seem to undulate, dancing with one another, as light kisses their metallic painted sides. Each curving forms face is painted metallic blue, metallic red or silver. This artwork relies on strong contours and smooth surfaces, so that any dust that might settle on it from the nearby quarry is easily washed off by rain and annual maintenance. It is illuminated by white LED floodlights at night. Sculpture dimensions: 1 x 36' high and 10' wide approx. (tallest of three curved diamond -section elements) 1 x 24' high and 8' wide approx. (middle of three curved diamond -section elements) 1 x 18' high and 6' wide approx. (shortest of three curved diamond -section elements) Base dimensions: Equilateral triangle. Each side length 14' approx. Height 5' minimum. Base/foundation: Indiana limestone over concrete, includes support walls for signage. _:, ; - _- _:- - - ,1 _ s r -7; : _ ,,: . ,- • .. ,; - ; . -- ~'3.
