Re: Variance Application for Carmel Clay Schools - Stadium
Height
Dear Rick ,
By this letter I am requesting that the variance application for
the stadium height at the Carmel High School physical education/
athletic complex be amended to include the height of the parking
lot light standards, which will be between 30 and 35 feet tall .
Since it is the same developmental standard (maximum height of 25
feet ) that is being varied , I would like to include the parking
lot light poles in the same variance application . I have
attached to this letter a drawing depicting the position of the
parking lot light poles to add to the file. I have also
indicated the need for the variance for the poles in the notice
of public hearing . If you have any questions, please give me a
call .

Lighting Foot/Candle Limits
To Whom It May Concern:
After reviewing the above referenced application I have the following comments:
applications need to be signed and notarized.
-Are the lights proposed High Pressure Sodium etal Halide?
-Will you or your attorney be providing the need copies, in packet form, for the Board
members the night of the hearing? If no, then five copies of the following need to be
provided:
-Findings of Facts--ballot sheet.
-Findings of Facts--question sheet.
-Statement of request and statement of practical difficulty.
-Location Map
-Site/Landscape Plan
-Elevations
-Any additional support documentation to be presented to the Board (please
provide two (2) additional copies of any documents that have not been submitted to
our office for the official file).
-Need two (2) copies of your "Notice of Public Hearing" sheet it should identify the type of
variance requested--"...upon a developmental standards variance application...", and I
would suggest that you identify the document you are requesting a variance from (i.e.
...variance from sections 7.3.6 of the Carmel/Clay Zoning Ordinance to allow...).
-Need filing fee paid-$100.00 for the first plus $50.00 per section being varied.

from your adjacent property owners notification, and a completed Petitioners Affidavit--
notarized.

Once the above items are completed I foresee no problems with issuing a docket

Re: Variance Applications for Carmel High School
Dear Rick:
Attached please find Applications and supporting documen-
tation for three ( 3 ) Variances that the Carmel Clay School
Corporation will be seeking in order to complete its proposed
improvements on the North side of 136th Street for the Physical
Education/Athletic Complex.
The first Variance is for the height of the light standards
that will light the football field. The light standards exceed
the maximum height allowed in the zone district.
The second Variance Application is for the height of the
stadium structure, which exceeds the maximum height of the R-2
Zone District.
The third Variance Application is for the intensity of the
light from the football stadium lights, which will exceed 1/10th
of a footcandle at the property boundaries of the site.
Please review these three ( 3 ) items and let me know what your
concerns are. If the information is acceptable, please add them
to the September Board of Zoning Appeals agenda for hearing. If
you have any questions please give me a call.
