My husband Michael and I have lived in beautiful Carmel for over 20 years. In 2017, we both retired. We tried different activities to keep us busy and engaged. Then we discovered Pickleball through a friend. We started learning and playing at the Monon Community Center, and this sport transformed our lives. We have never met so many fellow pickleball players who became our friends until we play pickleball, which has energized us physically, mentally and socially. But then Monon got too crowded because so many more people learned this sport and got addicted like us. Then we started looking for other venues with indoor courts, but there were only a few, with limited hours for pickleball. As you have heard from so many others, Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America, and everyone of all ages and physical abilities can play it. It is specially rewarding for retirees who decide to live in Carmel, and can enjoy an active and healthy life right here with Pickleball incorporated as part of their daily social/mental interactions and physical exercise. We have recently heard about a petition to rezone the Penwood Office Park property for indoor pickleball. I am writing this email to you in 1000% support of this petition! I personally cannot be at the meeting this evening, but hope you receive my email in time. I would like to reach out to you personally as well....if you ever have an interest to observe or even learn to play this great sport, please reach out to me anytime 317-294-4346. Thank you so much Joe. Sincerely, Alice (and Michael) Hager Carmel, IN 1
