If the cell tower is out of the floodway (striped area) a DNR permit is not required.

Hi Markita-
I just tried inputting the coordinates again, and it gave me the “No Results Found” I used the
pinpoint tool and generated the attached report.
Please confirm based on this report, No Permit is required from the DNR for this project.

Tony,
It looks like the portal is down because I am getting errors also. All floodplain administrators are
different so I am not sure if they will accept my email or not. If not, you might try running the INFIP
report again possibly tomorrow for the site.

Hi Markita-
Thanks for confirming that. I tried putting in the exact location of the proposed tower 39.976978
-86.169669 and it says “No Results Found”
Not sure how we can pinpoint the exact location. Can I use your e-mail that states we’re not in the
Floodplain to forward to the City Floodplain Administrator?

Hi Tony,
That report was for a point on a tract in the floodway. Based on the plans you submitted, the site is
not located in the floodway. You can run a new FARA for the specific site of the tower through our
Floodplain Portal at https://www.in.gov/dnr/water/surface-water/indiana-floodplain-
mapping/indiana-floodplain-information-portal/ which will give you the specific site information.

Hi Markita-
I appreciate you taking the time to review our project. We will only be doing a tower replacement
within the existing compound.
Access will be via existing access drive. They may have vehicles outside the compound, but as far as I
know, no temporary access is planned.
I noticed on the attached report (see below) that a Permit would be required from the DNR as well
as the Floodplain Administrator.
Is that still required if not doing any new work outside the equipment compound other than
staging?

Grant forwarded me your below request. The Department of Natural Resources has jurisdiction
under the Flood Control Act, IC 14-28-1 for any construction, excavation or fill in the floodway of a
river, stream or ditch with a drainage area above the site greater than 1 square mile. Based on the
information submitted, it appears that the tower being replaced is not located in the floodway of
Williams Creek or Henley Creek. Is any work proposed in the floodway, such as temporary access
drive, etc.? If not, approval is not required from DNR.

Hi Grant-
I appreciate you taking the time to discuss this project with me. Attached are the proposed plans
along with the Floodway Plan.
As I mentioned, this site has been here for years. We are replacing the existing structurally failing
tower with a newer one in the same compound.
We will not be changing the grade in, or around the existing compound.
Please let us know if we can move forward the project, or if additional permits or documentation is
required.
