HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter #17 Marie Larsen Shestak, Joe From:Marie <marie@marielarsen.com> Sent:Tuesday, November 22, 2022 8:29 AM To:Shestak, Joe Subject:Property asking for zoning variance Main Street Follow Up Flag:Follow up Flag Status:Completed To whom it may concern: I live in the neighborhood behind the fire station. Turning this dilapidated home into a State Farm business is not in harmony with this area. There are NO other businesses of this type on Main Street except in downtown Carmel. These are all residential areas & if they want a State Farm business, I think it needs to go at Hazeldell & Main Street, like all the other businesses. Perhaps 126th & Gray would be another area. My point being Carmel has had specific areas for businesses to operate & allowing this property to be a business would open the doors to put businesses wherever one wants. We differ ourselves from surrounding communities due to our zoning requirements & there are plenty of pieces of vacant properties & closed businesses space to put this State Farm location. By the way, there is already a State Farm office on MAIN St. In downtown Carmel. We don't need 2 or a vacant business & parking lot if this new one goes out of business & this new one sits empty such as the old home has been for several years now. Bull doze the home & donate to Dad's Club or our School Education center. Thank you for allowing me to express my feelings.
