DEAR JOE SHESTAK,
I'm writing you today as not only a resident of Carmel, IN but a neighbor to Story
Cottage at Carey Grove. I had the pleasure of moving into my home in October 2020;
Story Cottage at Carey Grove broke ground in November 2020. Since I have resided
next door, I have had the pleasure of watching my neighbor's home come to life.
Living next to Story Cottage has brought me a sense of pride for my neighbors and
within my own home. The house came to life from the winter of 2020 to the spring of
2021. In April 2021, the individuals started to move into Story Cottage that
experienced memory loss or decline. Since the doors opened, I have found that Story
Cottage has brought a sense of charm to my street. With weekly lawn care and
regular maintenance to the home, it gives me a sense of relief to know that the
property is well maintained.
Throughout the year, I watch family members check in on their loved ones with a
sense of ease, knowing they are well taken care of. I have found that the family
members are very respectful and park in the parking lot when visiting. During the
holidays, you tend to see an uptick in cars that visit, which they park on the street.
This is no different than when I am hosting my family members for the holidays, and
they need to park on the street.
I tell you this because I see the value in Residental Assisted Living (group home). This
adds value to our elder community and the community itself. Being able to visit a
loved one in a well-maintained facility that mains pride for the community is needed
in Carmel. Family members find peace in knowing their loved ones are being taken
care of, while as a neighbor to Story Cottage, I take comfort in knowing that my
neighbors are giving back to the community. I am in support of the Special Exemption
Permit at 44 Horseshoe.
With best regards,
JENNA CENTOFANTE
