> Mr. Shestak,
>
> I am writing to express my concern regarding the residential variance requested by the homeowner of 44 Horseshoe
Lane.
>
> My husband and I have been proud Carmel residents since August of 1988 (34 years). We feel blessed to have raised
our family in this wonderful safe community.
>
> I am sad to learn that the house at 44 Horseshoe Lane was purchased with the intent of becoming a for profit “group
home for the elderly.”
>
> As you are aware, the properties in the neighborhood are designed and constructed as single family dwellings. Our
neighborhood is comprised of single adults, young families, empty nesters and seniors capable of living independently.
>
> By allowing a “group home” the footprint and dynamic of the neighborhood changes.
> The City of Carmel has plenty of businesses that provide nursing care beds, assisted living opportunities and senior
apartments and living space. I cannot understand why someone would think this situation would be a good idea for 1)
the homeowners in the area who have made significant investment in their properties 2) the well being
> and safety of the people that would be living in this group home.
>
> It sickens me to think that someone would purchase this house at 44 Horseshoe Lane to turn it into a business
opportunity for profit.
>
> Please take the time to think through the consequences these type of homes have in our Carmel neighborhoods.
>
> Thank you,
>
