HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter #45 Maribeth & Drew BrennanDepartment of Community Service Planning & Zoning Attn: Joe Shestak 1 Civic Square Carmel, IN 46032 RE: Docket #PZ-2022-00208 SE / 44 Horseshoe Lane To The Board of Zoning Appeals, We are writing this letter to convey our opposition to the zoning request for 44 Horseshoe Lane in Carmel, IN. We have several concerns and reasons why we hope you will deny the petitioner’s request, but rather than list them all we will boil it down to our main concern. Woodland Springs is a residential neighborhood. We chose to buy our home in a residential neighborhood, and we purposely chose Horseshoe Lane in 2014 in part because of the quiet nature of the street. We would feel differently if this was multiple families living under the same roof, but it seems clear to us a for-profit business should not be approved in a residential zone. Our covenants only allow home businesses to have one non-resident work in the home. It’s our understanding the petitioner is suggesting she will have three employees, and she will not be living in the home. We are invested in Horseshoe Lane, and we love this community. We want to continue to raise our two young daughters (3.5 and 5.5) here. We are concerned about how a for-profit business (with an owner that will not be living in the home) will drastically change the overall complexion of this street in negative ways. We hope you will consider the long-term effects this could have on Horseshoe Lane, Woodland Springs and the City of Carmel as you make your decision. Best, Drew & Maribeth Brennan
