MERIDIAN PARK SHOPPES
SIGN CRITERIA
Tenants for Meridian Park Shoppes, 12560-12590 N Meridian St, Carmel, IN will not erect any signs
except in conformity with the following policy and the Carmel-Clay Sign Ordinance:
1. Wording on signs shall be limited to store or trade name only. Each Tenant’s customary signature or
logo, hallmark, insignia or other trade identification will be respected.
2. Exposed lamps, flashing, blinking, rotating, moving, animated or audible type signs are not permitted.
3. Sign height shall not exceed seventy percent (70%) of spandrel height or fifty-five inches (55”),
whichever is less. Sign length shall not exceed eighty-five percent (85%) of spandrel width or
eighteen feet (18’) whichever is less.
4. Tenant’s signs shall be centered and located within the limits of its storefront and shall not project
more than six inches (6”) beyond the vertical face of the canopy. Except as otherwise approved in
writing by Landlord, only one wall sign per Tenant will be permitted.
5. Channel letter signs may have one (1) or two (2) lines of copy. Channel letters may not exceed thirty-
six inches (36”) in height in either line copy. The total height of the sign shall not exceed 70% of
spandrel height.
6. The maximum area of any sign shall not exceed fifty (44) square feet, including channel letters, logos,
or other trade identification.
7. Return, trim, and face colors of any sign must be approved by the Landlord in writing before
fabrication.
8. No exposed raceways, ballast boxes, or electrical transformers will be permitted except as required by
Code.
9. Sign company names or stamps shall be concealed (Code permitting).
10. Tenant shall not install any rooftop signs.
11. All signs shall be internally face lit and subject to Landlord’s approval before fabrication. Tenant’s
sign contractor shall also be subject to Landlord’s approval.
12. Painted or printed signs on the exterior walls of any building, including paper signs, stickers, or
banners, are prohibited. A non-customer door for receiving merchandise may have one (1) square
foot of block letters with the name of the Tenant.
13. All signs on the glass of the storefront or hanging in the windows or glass visible to the exterior,
whether attached to the building’s exterior or not, are subject to written approval by the Landlord.
Each sign per Tenant shall be limited to 30% of the total area of each windowpane on which the sign

is established. Each tenant is limited to one (1) lighted window sign that shall not exceed three square
feet. Lighted window signs may not flash, blink, or be animated.
14. One small-scale sign relative to store name and stating store hours which are neatly lettered on the
glass of the storefront is authorized but subject to the Landlord’s approval.
15. Public safety decals or artwork on glass in minimum sizes to comply with applicable code, subject to
the Landlord’s approval, may be used as required by building codes or other governmental
regulations.
16. No signs shall be permitted at the rear of the building, except in the case of stores with customer
entrance opening directly onto the parking areas.
17. Three (3) complete sets of sign drawings must be submitted to the Landlord for approval prior to
fabrication and before submission to the Carmel Department of Community Development. Tenant’s
sign drawing must include the following:
a. Elevation view of the storefront showing sign (drawn to accurate scale) with dimensions
of height and length of sign.
