D-2649-22 AN ORDINANCE OF THE COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA, AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN ADDITIONAL APPROPRIATION OF FUNDS FROM THE OPERATING BALANCE OF THE GENERAL FUND TO THE 2022 COMMUNITY RELATIONS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT BUDGET Synopsis: This ordinance appropriates $6,000 in grant funds that were received from the Indiana Arts Commission. WHEREAS, in 2022, the Community Relations and Economic Development Department (“CRED”) was awarded and received a total of Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) in grant funding from the Indiana Arts Commission’s Cultural District and Community Engagement Grants (the “Grant Funds”), which was deposited into the City of Carmel’s General Fund (#101); and WHEREAS, in order to expend the Grant Funds, they must be appropriated from the General Fund into the 2022 CRED budget; and WHEREAS, the General Fund currently has excess funds in the amount of Six Thousand Dollars ($6,000.00) in the operating balance to appropriate to CRED budget line items 4359003 – Festivals/Community Events and 4359300 – Economic Development. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Common Council of the City of Carmel, Indiana, that the following additional sum of money is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund Operating Balance and for the purposes specified, subject to applicable laws, as follows: $6,000.00 from the GENERAL FUND OPERATING Balances To Community Relations (#1203): Line item 4359003 – Festivals/Community Events $3,000.00 Community Relations (#1203): Line item 4359300 – Economic Development $3,000.00 This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the date of its passage, execution by the Mayor.
