Terrain and existing ground condition: The site is currently meadow and wild grasses cover types. The site slopes generally from southeast to northwest at 2% - 3%. A large 48" by 33" CMP crossing under US 31 accepts the stormwater discharge from the site, and eventually outlets into Williams Creek. Adjoining land conditions: North, South, East, and West: Commercial Soil types: Soils maps from the United States Department of Agriculture, Soil Conservation Service identify Shoals (Sh), and Crosby (CrA) "c" soil types. The distribution of these soils on the site is approximately 25% C soils and 75% C soils. Design storm frequency: The detention area is designed for a 100 year storm event. The site slopes generally from southeast to northwest at 2% - 3%. A large 48" by 33" CMP crossing under US 31 accepts the stormwater discharge from the site, and eventually outlets into Williams Creek. The 1 O-year existing peak runoff rate is 19.87 cfs, from the 10-year, six-hour storm. A soils map and flood data of the proposed site and surrounding areas are included in the Exhibits section of this report. This detention pond utilizes a 12" pipe outlet structure to reduce the site's peak runoff rate. Flow is then conveyed to the existing 48" by 33" CMP crossing under US 31, which eventually outlets into Williams Creek. All runoff from the proposed development on the site is routed to the detention area. DESIGN SUMMARY The detention area was sized using the SCS Type-II Distribution (as required). The site basin 410 includes the roof drains in the sizing of the proposed storm sewer. From the modeling it was determined that the 12-hour storm is the critical duration producing the greatest proposed discharge and flood stage. The proposed discharge is 5.58 cfs. The proposed 1 OO-year and 10-year discharge rates are less than the existing 1 O-year discharge rate.
