HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter #13 David & Janis Wagner To: Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals Re: Home Occupation Variance for 13787 Hickory Ridge Ct Date: January 10, 2023 Cary and Carrie Ann Pruett live across the street from us. We met them soon after they moved into the Springmill Crossing subdivision. They are great, conscientious, and friendly neighbors. Shortly after the Pruetts moved in, Cary shared his passion of working with the youth in aiding their soccer skills. Cary said he wanted to use his backyard as an area in which to do this, and planned to set it up in such a manor as to not encroach on his neighbors or their property. Cary has set up his backyard with nets and fencing to keep the soccer balls confined. His equipment is not noisy and the only way we know he's training is when we drive by and see them in the backyard and occasionally parents are standing and watching. Cary's classes are very punctual, and we have not seen any loitering. Cary got permission from the Springmill Crossing Homeowners Association board to proceed with the changes to their property. Cary also said he had talked with his immediate neighbors on both sides of his property. One of the neighbors stated they would be ok with his plans if the Pruetts would pay for and install additional landscaping on the neighbor's property to act as a screen, blocking the view into their property. Cary did as requested. We have not heard if there were any other requests or demands from the adjoining neighbor properties. We have observed Cary during a few training sessions, which are mostly one-on-one private sessions. He is truly passionate in what he is doing and wants to aid the kids who seek him out to improve their soccer skills. Cary is very professional and encouraging in his approach. He we have never heard him or the kids being boisterous, and he is always giving the kids encouraging feedback in the good skills they are doing and positive feedback on how to improve with examples and explanations, thus aiding in their self-esteem. Cary listens to the kids and adapts his knowledge to the youth's skill level and encourages them to want to improve, all the while they are having fun. Cary has demonstrated his passion and commitment to the sport and to the youth in our community. The parents must also agree, or they would not be driving as far away as Zionsville. Cary has proven to be a caring and thoughtful neighbor. He has been upfront in all his home business soccer endeavors, and we are grateful to Cary and Carrie Ann Pruett as neighbors. We have no concerns with his private home soccer sessions. Respectfully, D vid &Janis Wagner (Lot 026—per Adjoiner Notification Map) - 1-`- --- /a/rtz.0 7/77-,,21-4- Cc: Steven P.
