The podium building will include commercial tenant spaces and the apartment entrance and amenity functions Code Strategy:The 1st floor podium is designed as a Type IA structure and the 4 stories of apartments designed as Type VA Construction. The parking garage is designed as a separate building of Type IIA Construction. The project will employ the horizontal building separation option per Sec. 510.2. The Type IA building will be separated with 3-hour construction from the Type VA building above, as well as from the Type IIA parking garage. The Type IA podium building and the parking garage will each be protected with a sprinkler system per NFPA 13. The Type VA apartment building will be protected with a sprinkler system per NFPA 13R.
