CARMEL/CLAY PLAN COMMISSION
DEPARTMENT REPQRT
January 15,~
~o;2-
8i. Docket No. 132-01 OA; Amendment to the Subdivision Control Ordinance
The petitioner seeks to make corrective amendments to two section of the Subdivision
Control Ordinance.
Filed by the Department of Community Services.
As the previous amendments effect the Zoning Ordinance, this Ordinance Amendment makes
changes to two sections of the ~nhc1iv1sion r.ontrol Orc1inance. The first amends Section 6.3.6 in
order to resolve a conflict with the Comprehensive Plan. The language in the Subdivision Control
Ordinance requires that right-of-way and roadway widths shall conform to the Thoroughfare Plan,
then cites standards that were adopted in 1980, and no longer reflect the current standards. The new
language would eliminate the need to amend this Section ofthe Ordinance every time the
Thoroughfare Plan is amended.
The second amends Section 8.9: Sidewalks, re-titling it Section 8.9: Alternative Transportation, and
amending the language of the Section accordingly. These changes better reflect the current
standards of Carmel/Clay in terms of sidewalks, multi-use paths, and shared paths, where sidewalks
alone used to be the standard.
If there are no questions raised by the public or from Commission members, the
Department recommends that the Plan Commission forward this amendment to the City
Council with a favorable recommendation at this meeting.
Note: Forwarding the Ordinance Amendment this evening will require a vote to waive the
Commission's rules of procedure which would have the item sent to committee.
