All work to be done inaccordance with local and national plumbing codes.3.General Requirements:A.Piping shall not be installed at locations having ductwork until after air ducts are in place andthis contractor shall be responsible for routing his work to clear air ducts as well as lightfixtures and equipment of other trades.B.Runs of piping are in part, diagrammatic, and contractor shall run piping to best fit fieldconditions. Field variation of scale dimensions of drawings is required. Since actuallocations, dimensions and levels will be governed by architectural drawings and actual fieldconditions.C.Fixtures shall be installed so that connecting and disconnecting of piping and accessories canbe made readily and parts are easily accessible for inspection, operations, maintenance andrepair. Provide access panels where required.4.Shop Drawings:A.Review of shop drawings does not relieve Contractor of responsibility for correct ordering ofmaterial or equipment.B.Include all significant data on shop drawing submittals shown in Specifications and EquipmentSchedules.C.Contractor review should insure that equipment will fit into available space.D.Submit shop drawings in brochure form and include all related equipment in one brochure.E.Submit two (2) copies more than Contractor needs for his use. Or, provide electronic copies.F.After award of contract, submit within 30 days.G.Submit shop drawings of all major plumbing components, such as plumbing fixtures, etc.Coordinate with Engineer.H.Contractor shall review and approve and affix his company name (in the form of a stamp) andproject name to all shop drawings and submittals before submitting.5.Electrical Wiring:A.Will be furnished by Electrical Contractor. This Contractor shall furnish necessary controls,wiring diagrams and instructions.6.Piping Drawings:A.Drawings are partially diagrammatic and are not intended to show in detail all features ofwork.B.Location of piping shall be checked to determine that it clears openings and importantstructural members. That piping indicated as concealed can be properly concealed in wallsor partitions of finished rooms. And that it does not interfere with cabinets, lights or otherequipment having fixed locations.C.Piping shall be concealed except where specifically noted otherwise.D.All plumbing openings through walls and floors shall be fire stopped, by caulking annularspaces air tight, if the pipes extend into adjacent areas.7.Testing:A.Water Lines:1.Test for leaks and defects in new piping and parts of existing piping that have beenaltered, extended, or repaired.2.Test to a hydrostatic pressure of 100 psi., for a period of twenty-four (24) hours.3.Repair leaks and defects with new materials and retest piping, or portion thereof, untilsatisfactory results are obtained.4.Prepare report for tests and required corrective action.B.Storm, Sanitary and Vent Lines:1.Test for leaks and defects in new piping and parts of existing piping that have beenaltered, extended, or repaired.2.Test according to procedures of authorities having jurisdiction.3.Repair leaks and defects with new materials and retest piping, or portion thereof, untilsatisfactory results are obtained.4.Prepare report for tests and required corrective action.C.Natural Gas Lines:1.Test for leaks and defects in new piping and parts of existing piping that have beenaltered, extended, or repaired.2.Test, inspect and purge lines according to the International Fuel Gas Code andAuthorities having jurisdiction.3.Repair leaks and defects with new materials and retest piping, or portion there of, untilsatisfactory results are obtained.4.Prepare report for tests and required corrective action.8.Materials:A. In the event a material for a specific use is not mentioned, contractor shall supply bestmaterial suitable for use intended.B.Storm:1.All storm drain lines below slab to be Solid wall PVC (ASTM D 2665), Type K Copper(ASTM B306) or Hubless Cast Iron (ASTM A 888). All storm drain lines above slab to beHubless Cast Iron (ASTM A 888). DO NOT USE CELLULAR CORE PVC.2.Trunk line to be stubbed out five (5) feet from building.3.Trunk line shall be supported by unexcavated or compacted fill, or other material that willnot settle or deteriorate.4.Vertical and horizontal lines shall be concealed, unless specifically indicated as exposed.5.Installation of storm piping shall be carefully planned to meet invert elevations asrequired.6.Turns in horizontal lines shall be accomplished via long turn wye branches or throughcombination wye and eighth bends.7.Slope 21/2" and smaller lines at 1/4"/ft. Slope 3" and larger lines at a minimum of 1/8”/ft.8.All piping in a plenum shall be Hubless Cast Iron and have a 25/50 flame smoke rating.C.Sanitary Waste and Vent:1.All drain lines to be Solid wall PVC (ASTM D 2665), Type K Copper (ASTM B306) orHubless Cast Iron (ASTM A 888). Aircirculation shall be assured.10.Where main vent stacks and main soil waste stacks are run together, they shall connectabove the top branch and below the bottom branch of each riser.11.Vent lines shall be free from drops or sags and shall be so graded and connected as toslope back to the soil or waste pipe by gravity.12.Main vent shall be extended through roof and flashed properly.D.Condensate:1.All Condensate piping to be Copper or PVC (ASTM D 2665).2.Vertical and horizontal lines shall be concealed, unless specifically indicated as exposed.3.Slope at a minimum of 1/8”/Foot.4.Lines shall be free from drops or sags and shall be so graded as to slope to the soil orwaste pipe by gravity.5.Horizontal copper condensate piping shall be insulated over its entire length.
