Introduction
Karmel Property LLC owner of the property at 11299 Illinois St, is requesting a variance of
allowable sign area. This property has been the Global Corporate Headquarters for KAR Global.
The property sits at the Northeast corner of 111th and Illinois St.
Statement of Variance Request
UDO Section 5.39(I)(3)(d) allows for maximum sign area of 45 sq. ft. We request a variance of
development standards to allow for 75 sq. ft.
Statement of Support.
This is a unique situation for several reasons. The concrete monument actually serves as a
guardrail and retaining wall for a water retention area on the property. This structure was
allowed to be used as sign in 2019 by 19050009-10 V. At that time, the UDO allowed for 75 sq
feet of sign area. The UDO has since lowered the area to 45 sq ft. 75 sq ft. of area is needed to
allow for name changes and or additional of business names to the sign.
