2. Docket No. 154-01 ADLS Amend; Carmel McDonald's Ground Sign
Petitioner seeks Architectural Design, Lighting & Signage approval to replace an existing
sign. The site is located at 750 East Cannel Drive. The site is zoned B-8/Business.

DEPARTMENT REPORT
May 14, 2002
The applicant is requesting ADLS Amendment approval of a new sign to replace the existing one
at the entrance to the restaurant (see elevations and details submitted with the February
information). This is the building at the northwest corner of US 431 and East Cannel Drive.
The item was considered at the January Committee meeting and continued to February 5th at
which time additional information was submitted. The committee voiced concerns regarding the
design and a desire to see a design closer to that of the address signage and streetscape
implemented along Carmel Drive. The Committee continued the item to the March 5th and April
9th meetings without discussion.
The applicant has provided a new exhibit (see attached) for consideration by the Committee.
The Department recommends that the Special Studies Committee approve the request after
further review to address the issues raised at the January 8th meeting date.
~ In addition it has come to the attention of DOCS that the applicant has placed rocks, as
part of the landscaping, within the city right-of-way. We would ask that an approval by
the Committee be conditioned with removal of the rock from the right-of-way.
The item only requires approval by the Special Studies Committee.
