Re: BZA Docket No. PZ-2023-00057 V: Moorehead Residence Floodplain Variance.
Dear Mr. Buchheit:
At the meeting held on Monday, March 27, 2023, the Carmel Board of Zoning Appeals Hearing Officer took the
following action regarding the Development Standards Variance (V) request filed by you for the property located at
10404 Ditch Road:
APPROVED with Condition: Moorehead Residence Floodplain Variance - Development Standards Variance
approval for:
• PZ-2023-00057 V: Footbridge and fence in floodplain granted,
• CONDITION: The Petitioner works through any comments based on the City’s Stormwater Technical
Standards Manual, file and receive a separate stormwater permit from home construction, as well as
obtain all necessary permitting from other regulatory agencies such as USACE, IDNR, and IDEM, and
also seek Fence Permit approval. (Proposed fence design within the floodplain area may change as
allowed by agencies that regulate the floodplain areas.)
Please be advised that per Article 9.15 of the Unified Development Ordinance, the aforementioned Development
Standards Variance approval is valid for three (3) years. By that time, either continuous construction of the
improvements must be underway, or a written request for a one-time, six-month extension of the approval must have
been received and approval granted by this Department. The expiration date of the approval is March 27, 2026.
Please include a copy of this letter with any permit application.
