Dear Sir or Madam:
Attached please find introductory information and application for our variance request
regarding the addition of signage to our building located at 101 East Carmel Dr.
Carmel Financial is seeking approval to place a second sign displaying the name of our
business "Carmel Financial" on the north side of the 2 story multi-tenant building.
Carmel Financial is the owner of the building.
The building currently has a sign for Meridian Mortgage located on the east end of the
north side of the building. Meridian Mortgage is a tenant in our building.
Carmel Financial is a long-standing business resident and now desires to add their name
to the building. The current sign ordinance allows for only one building identification
sign for a multi-tenant multi-level building for each frontage (25.7.02-10 b). Removing
the Meridian Mortgage sign and replacing it with Carmel Financial is an alternative the
variance request. However, as this option may negatively affect Meridian Mortgage
business, Carmel Financial would like to add a second sign. This second sign would not
pose a risk to public safety or health and would benefit the business health of both
Meridian Mortgage and Carmel Financial.
Public notice was posted in the Noblesville Ledger (May 25th), and letters of intent were
sent to neighboring businesses. This information is attached.

LEGAL NOTICE shall be published in the Noblesville Daily Ledqer a MANDATORY twenty-five (25) days prior to
the public hearing date. The certified "Proof of Publication" affidavit for: the newspaper must be available for inspection the
night of the hearing.
LEGAL NOTICE to all adjoining and abutting property owners is also MANDATORY, two methods of notice are
recommended:
1) CERTIFIED MAIL - RETURN RECEIPT REQUESTED sent to adjoining property owners. (The white receipt
should be stamped by the Post Office at least twenty-five (25) days prior to the public hearing date.)

LETTER OF INTENT
The Petitioner, Carmel Financial, seeks a variance to allow for a sign listing the name of
their business on its building. As a multi-level, multi-tenant building with one 72'
frontage they are allowed only one sign by the current sign ordinance. One sign exists on
the building for a separate tenant (Meridian Mortgage). Carmel Financial, the owner of
the building, would like to place their name on the building as well. The petitioner seeks
a variance to allow a second building sign.
Based upon the foregoing the Petitioner believes that:
1. The approval will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals, and general
welfare of the community as the proposed signage will complement the existing
signage, comply with the 60 sq. ft. of total signage allowed, and look similar to
other multi-level, multi-tenant buildings with more than one sign (National Bank
of Indianapolis, E. Carmel Dr);
2. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property will not be affected in a
substantially adverse manner as the building is located in a commercial area with
similar signage; and
3. The alternative of removing the Meridian Mortgage sign would not benefit any of
those involved.
