Dear Laurence:
Please accept this as written affirmation of the commitment made to the Board of Zoning
Appeals on Monday, June 25,2001, as part of the approval of Docket Number V-70-01. Borders
will be the only tenant of Merchants Pointe whose name shall be included on the project identification
sign to be placed at the intersection of AAA Way and East 116th Street, and such sign shall be
included as one of the three signs permitted Borders under the Carmel Sign Ordinance. Should you

Dear Ramona:
On June 25, Borders Book Store/The Linder Company will present to the Carmel Board of
Zoning Appeals a request for two (2) developmental standards sign variances pertaining to Lot 1 and
Lot 5 in Merchants' Pointe (the mixed use development of The Linder Company on the 14.3 acre
parcel of real estate located at the Southwest comer of East I 16th Street and Keystone Avenue).
Borders Book Store is requesting a sign variance to permit the wall sign to be located on the North
facia of Borders on Lot 5 to be 190 square feet in size. Borders Book Store/The Linder Company
is requesting a sign variance to permit the name Borders as the major tenant in Merchants' Pointe to
be included on the project identification sign on Lot 1 perpendicular to East .1 16th Street. Enclosed
is an informational booklet explaining this request and as originally presented to the Carmel Plan
Commission as part of the approved ADLS application.
