The entrance to both of our offices is at the end of the HRM building,on the left-hand side of the courtyard,while HRM's main entrance is in the front of the building on New Market Street,which causes confusion to clients of Dovetail Group and Koehler Law. Our clients,from both firms,have trouble finding our offices and are constantly disturbing the FIRM offices that are located on each side of the courtyard and have multiple points of entrance.All parties involved believe a projecting blade sign would help guide our clients,package deliveries,and vendors to the correct place and will ease the disturbances to the offices around us. We are requesting approval of the variance to have a projecting blade sign installed,that would stick out further than the six inches that is currently allowed for second and third-floor tenants in a building.The PUD currently states a directory is allowed for upper-story tenants,however,we have a directory and it is not visible to people entering the courtyard from the front or back of the courtyard. We have support from the Village of WestClay Owners'Association,our landlords Jeffrey and Stacie Roberts,Koehler Law,and the HRM offices that surround us.We believe having a blade sign will ease confusion for the clients,vendors,and delivery service workers of Dovetail Group and Koehler Law. The approval of this variance will not be injurious to the public health, safety, morals and general welfare of the community because: The Blade sign will be professionally installed in a courtyard area that is off of the main street and sidewalk areas. The size of the sign is not too large, not a distraction, and is aseptically pleasing and complimentary of the other buildings and signs in the village. The main door to our space is located in the courtyard therefore people have a hard time finding our location because nothing catches their eye to direct them to our point of entry. 2. The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be affected in a substantially adverse manner because: The Blade sign will be installed in a courtyard area that is off of the main street and sidewalk areas. The strict application of the terms of the Unified Development to the property will result in practical difficulties in the use of the property because: If the blade sign for Dovetail Group and Koehler Law is not approved, we will continue having issues with distractions to the HRM offices around us and our clients will not be able to find exactly where our offices are located. There is no advertisement on the street, at the back of the building, or on the front of the building for a client or vendor to find us. The directory sign that is allowed, and is currently in place, doesn’t project enough and therefore is often unseen by our clients and vendors.
