C. COMPLETE WORK ABOVE ROOF, SUCH AS MASONRY,

D. VERIFY AND MAINTAIN ROOF SLOPES AND DRAINAGE
PATTERNS. TEST FOR AND CORRECT ANY PONDING
CONDITIONS.
E. REPAIR AND REPLACE ROOFING SYSTEM OR STRUCTURE
DAMAGED BY IMPROPER STORAGE, CONSTRUCTION
ACTIVITIES, OR LACK OF ADEQUATE TEMPORARY
PROTECTION. THIS ALSO INCLUDES INTERIOR DAMAGE TO
FINISHES, EQUIPMENT, FURNISHINGS, ETC., RESULTING
FROM LEAKS.
F. NEW BLOCKING SHALL BE PRESERVATIVE-TREATED WOOD.
G. PAINT EXTERIOR LADDERS, BRACKETS, ETC., UNLESS
NOTED OTHERWISE.
H. CAP FASTENERS THAT PENETRATE ROOF DECK IN AREAS
NOT CONCEALED BY CEILINGS WITH WIRE NUTS OR OTHER
MEANS ACCEPTABLE TO ARCHITECT UNLESS OTHERWISE
INDICATED. AREAS SUCH AS JANITOR CLOSETS, STORAGE
ROOMS, MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
ROOMS, ETC., ARE EXEMPT FROM THIS REQUIREMENT
UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.

F. REPAIR FINISHES AND SURFACES LEFT EXPOSED BY
DEMOLITION OR REMOVAL OF EQUIPMENT USING NEW
MATERIALS TO MATCH SURROUNDING SURFACES
INCLUDING ROOF DECK, SUBSTRATE, BLOCKING, ETC.
REPAIR EXISTING FINISHES TO CORRECT DEFECTS EITHER
CAUSED OR EXPOSED BY DEMOLITION WORK OR
EQUIPMENT REMOVAL INCLUDING MASONRY, SHEET
METAL, ETC. AREAS NOTED ON THE DRAWINGS TO BE
REPAIRED OR PATCHED ARE GIVEN FOR REFERENCE AND
SHALL NOT BE INTERPRETED TO LIMIT THE SCOPE OF
WORK.
G. PATCH EXISTING CEILING AND ROOF CONSTRUCTION AT
ABANDONED PENETRATION LOCATIONS WITH NEW
MATERIALS AS REQUIRED TO RECEIVE NEW FINISHES AND
TO MAINTAIN ORIGINAL FIRE RATING OF ASSEMBLY WHERE
APPLICABLE.
H. REFER TO WALL SECTIONS NOTED ON ROOF PLANS FOR
ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION INFORMATION.
I. SELECTIVE DEMOLITION, SUCH AS ROOF PENETRATIONS
FOR INSTALLATION OF NEW MECHANICAL OR ELECTRICAL
WORK, SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE
CONTRACTOR OR TRADE REQUIRING THE DEMOLITION.
REFER TO MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL DRAWINGS FOR
ADDITIONAL DEMOLITION INFORMATION.
J. REMOVE EXISTING GRAVEL BALLAST, ROOF MEMBRANE,
INSULATION, THERMAL AND VAPOR BARRIERS, CANTS,
FLASHING, COUNTERFLASHING AND COPING DOWN TO
EXISTING STRUCTURAL ROOF DECK UNLESS NOTED
OTHERWISE. PLACE NEW ROOFING SYSTEM DIRECTLY
OVER EXISTING ROOF DECK.
K. REMOVE EXISTING SHINGLES, UNDERLAYMENT, FLASHING,
GUTTERS, AND INSULATION DOWN TO EXISTING
STRUCTURAL ROOF DECK UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE.
PLACE NEW ROOFING SYSTEM DIRECTLY OVER EXISTING
ROOF DECK.
L. REMOVE EXISTING ASPHALT AND MASTIC MATERIAL FROM
PARAPET WALLS AND SURROUNDING MATERIALS AS
REQUIRED BY ROOF MEMBRANE SYSTEM
MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY.
M. AT CONTRACTOR'S OPTION, REINSTALL EXISTING GRAVEL
BALLAST IF TYPE AND SIZE IS APPROPRIATE, AND IF REUSE
IS ALLOWED UNDER REQUIRED WARRANTY. DO NOT STORE
BALLAST IN A MANNER THAT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO
EXISTING STRUCTURE. PROPERLY DISPOSE OF UNUSED
BALLAST OFF-SITE.
N. IF EXISTING ITEMS TO BE REMOVED OR DISTURBED ARE
SUSPECTED OR DISCOVERED TO CONTAIN ASBESTOS OR
OTHER HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, STOP DEMOLITION AND
NOTIFY OWNER AND ARCHITECT IMMEDIATELY.
O. VERIFY SIZE, LOCATION AND NUMBER OF EXISTING ROOF
PENETRATIONS INCLUDING VENTS, PIPES, CURBS, ROOF
DRAINS, CONDUITS, ETC. PROVIDE NEW FLASHING AND
SEAL EXISTING PENETRATIONS WHETHER OR NOT

P. COMPLETE WORK ABOVE ROOF, SUCH AS MASONRY WALL
REPAIR, WELDING, REPOINTING, ETC., PRIOR TO STARTING
RE-ROOFING WORK.
Q. RAISE EXISTING ROOF CURBS AND PROVIDE ADDITIONAL
BLOCKING FOR FANS, VENTS, INTAKES AND MECHANICAL
EQUIPMENT AS REQUIRED BY NEW ROOF SYSTEM AND
INSULATION THICKNESS.
R. RAISE EXISTING ROOF DRAINS, OVERFLOW DRAINS AND
SCUPPER OPENINGS AS REQUIRED BY NEW ROOF SYSTEM
AND INSULATION THICKNESS. EXTEND DRAIN PIPING AND
REINSULATE AS REQUIRED.
S. PROVIDE NEW GRAVEL STOP AT EXTERIOR FASCIA
CONDITIONS AS REQUIRED BY NEW ROOF SYSTEM AND
INSULATION THICKNESS.
T. REMOVE EXISTING CAULKING AND PROVIDE NEW SEALANT
AT EXISTING FLASHING TO REMAIN.
U. THE EXISTING ROOF SYSTEM MEMBRANE IS REPORTED TO
BE ▐►FIRESTONE◄▌▐►CARLISLE] ▐►GOODYEAR◄▌
▐►OTHER◄▌AND IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. WORK ON
EXISTING ROOF AND CONNECTIONS TO EXISTING
MEMBRANE SHALL BE PERFORMED AS REQUIRED TO
MAINTAIN CURRENT WARRANTY.
V. VERIFY AND MAINTAIN EXISTING ROOF SLOPES AND
DRAINAGE PATTERNS UNLESS OTHERWISE INDICATED.
TEST FOR AND CORRECT ANY PONDING CONDITIONS.
PROVIDE SMOOTH TRANSITIONS BETWEEN NEW ROOFING
AND EXISTING FEATURES AS DETAILED OR AS REQUIRED BY
CONDITIONS.
W. RESTORE ROOF TO A WEATHERTIGHT CONDITION AT THE
CONCLUSION OF EACH DAY'S ROOF REMOVAL AND RE-
ROOFING ACTIVITIES.
X. REPAIR AND REPLACE EXISTING ROOFING OR STRUCTURE
DAMAGED BY IMPROPER STORAGE, CONSTRUCTION
ACTIVITIES, OR LACK OF ADEQUATE TEMPORARY
