1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Perform work in accordance with ACI 301.

1.07 TESTS
A. Testing and analysis of concrete will be performed under provisions of Section 01400.
B. Submit proposed mix design to appointed firm for review prior to commencement of work.
C. Testing firm will take cylinders and perform slump and air entrainment tests in accordance
with ACI 301.
D. Four concrete test cylinders will be taken for every 100 or less cubic yards of each class of
concrete placed each day.
E. One additional test cylinder will be taken during cold weather and be cured on site under
same conditions as concrete is represents.
F. One slump test will be taken for each set of four test cylinders taken.
G. Three copies of 7 and 28 day test results are to be submitted to Construction Manager.
PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.01 FORM MATERIALS
A. Conform to ACI 301.
B. Plywood Forms: Douglas Fir species; solid one side CDX grade; sound undamaged sheets.
C. Lumber: Yellow Pine or Douglas Fir species; S4S grade; with grade stamp clearly visible. 2.02 REINFORCING A. Reinforcing Steel: ASTM A615, 40 ksi yield grade billet steel deformed bars; uncoated finish. B. Welded Steel Wire Fabric: Plain type, ANSI/ASTM A185; in coiled rolls; uncoated finish. C. Synthetic Fiber Reinforcement: alternate to welded wire fabric. 1.0 pounds per cubic yard of concrete as manufactured by Nycon Inc. 2.03 CONCRETE MATERIALS A. Cement: ASTM C150, normal - Type 1 Portland, grey color. B. Fine and Coarse Aggregates: ASTM C33. C. Water: Clean and not detrimental to concrete. 2.04 ADMIXTURES A. Air Entrainment Admixture: ASTM C260 for all exterior concrete.

2.05 ACCESSORIES A. Vapor Barrier: ASTM D2103, 6 mil thick clear polyethylene film. B. Construction Joints: Saw Cut. C. Form Release Agent: Colorless material which will not stain concrete, absorb moisture, or impair natural bonding or color characteristics of coating intended for use on concrete; manufactured by Sonneborn or Equal. 2.06 CONCRETE MIX A. Mix concrete in accordance with ASTM C94. B. Foundation Concrete: 1. Compressive Strength (28 days): 3000 psi 2. Slump: 4 inch C. Slab On Fill Concrete: 1. Compressive Strength (28 days): 3000 psi 2. Slump: 4 inch D. Exterior Concrete: 1. Compressive Strength (28 days): 4000 psi 2. Slump: 4 inch E. Add air entraining agent to mix for concrete exposed to freeze-thaw cycling. F. Interior light weight concrete: 1. Compressive Strength (28 days): 1500 psi PART 3 EXECUTION 3.01 FORMWORK ERECTION A. Verify lines, levels, and measurement before proceeding with formwork. B. Hand trim sides and bottom of earth forms; remove loose dirt. C. Align form joints. D. Do not apply form release agent where concrete surfaces receive special finishes which may be affected by agent. E. Coordinate work of other Sections in forming and setting openings, slots, recesses, chases, sleeves, bolts, anchors, and other inserts. 3.02 REINFORCEMENT A. Place, support, and secure reinforcement against displacement. B. Locate reinforcing splices as shown on plans.

3.03 PLACING CONCRETE A. Notify Construction Manager minimum 24 hours prior to commencement of concrete operations. B. Install vapor barrier under interior floor slabs on fill. Lap joints minimum 6 inches and seal. Do not disturb vapor barrier while placing reinforcement. 3.04 FLOOR SLABS A. Saw cut control joints at an optimum time after finishing. Cut slabs with 3/16 inch thick blade, cutting 1/4 of depth of slab thickness. B. Separate interior slabs on fill from vertical surfaces with rigid insulation. Extend insulation from bottom of slab to within 1/4 inch of finished slab surface. Forty-five degree angle cut at top of insulation as shown on plans is preferable. C. Trowel or Broom or finish surfaces as scheduled. 3.05 TOLERANCES A. Provide Class A tolerance to floor slabs according to ACI 301. Pitch to drains 1/4 inch per foot nominal. 3.06 EXISTING WORK A. Where new concrete is doweled to existing work, drill holes in existing concrete, insert steel dowels and pack with non-shrinking grout. B. Prepare previously placed concrete by cleaning with steel brush and apply bonding agent in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. 3.07 SCHEDULE OF FORMED SURFACES (Retaining Walls) A. Rough form finish at foundation walls (if formed). B. Cement slurry finish at poured foundations. 3.08 SCHEDULE OF FLOOR SLAB FINISHES A. Trowel finish at interior slabs. B. Broom or belt finish at exterior patios and stoops, sidewalks and curbs. END OF SECTION
