Clayborn, PE PROPOSAL | P a g e CARMEL SALT CAVES & SPA Richard W. Clayborn, PE 2 | P a g e Executive Summary: The structure is a historic 1916-1917 Craftsman Home built for the Fisher Family. Currently it is operating as a salon and spa and will continue to operate as a spa after the remodel, however, some of the services will change. To update the building and bring it into modern code compliance, we will be making changes: On the front elevation we frame in the front porch to maintain the Craftsman look and feel and add necessary space to the interior. We will relocate the front door and add stairs. The bricks on the front porch wall will be demoed and recovered. The new stairs and front porch will be poured as a concrete. The front porch will be completely enclosed and the windows that have been removed on the front of the house will be reused. The current front wall and door entry will completely remove to combine the living room and the porch. This new area will combine to form the large salt cave. The bricks from the front wall, along with bricks from under the windows and the portico will be re used to create the "pony wall" keeping the Craftsman appearance of the building. Pavement striping including adding a pedestrian crosswalk will be added on the front of the building. New landscaping will be added via containers. The back door will be rehung to swing out. The existing roof will be removed and replaced with black dimensional shingles. The exterior of the house will be power washed, scraped, and painted in approved colors. New landscaping will be added to the west side of the property will include a minimum of 6 ornamental trees and 11 shrubs planted to be determined later. Please review the following exhibits.
