A RESOLUTION OF THE CARMEL/CLAY BOARD OF PARKS AND RECREATION
NAMING THE AMY EDENBURN FURRY MEMORIAL DOG TRAIL
WHEREAS, the Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation (the “Park Board”) is a unit of
government created and authorized to administer the Carmel/Clay Department of Parks and Recreation
(the “Department”) pursuant to that certain agreement entitled “Interlocal Cooperation Agreement” signed
by the respective authorized officials of Clay Township, Hamilton County, Indiana and City of Carmel,
Indiana on July 30, 2002 and effective January 1, 2003, as amended from time to time; and
WHEREAS, the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement and Indiana Code 36-10-3 grants the Park Board
authority to accept gifts and donations for park and recreation purposes, develop parks and facilities, and
establish rules governing the use of park facilities; and
WHEREAS, the Naming Policy for Parks, Facilities, and Components, as amended by the Park Board
through Resolution P-2019-001 on January 8, 2019, permits facilities to be named in honor of a deceased
individual if a significant portion of costs associated with the development was made by a donor; and
WHEREAS, Amy Edenburn Furry was a dog lover whose family wished to extend her legacy by
contributing to an amenity that other dog lovers can enjoy for generations to come; and
WHEREAS, Stephen Furry donated $20,000 of the $55,500 in expenses needed to expand the dog
park by approximately 1-acre in order to create a fenced-in, off-leash trail for existing dog park members;
and
WHEREAS, the Park Board wishes to publicly recognize and honor Amy Edenburn Furry for the
generous donation received on her behalf.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation hereby
names the dog trail within the 1-acre expansion of the dog park located at 1425 East 116th Street, Carmel,
Indiana the Amy Edenburn Furry Memorial Dog Trail.
APPROVED AND ADOPTED by the Carmel/Clay Board of Parks and Recreation this 11th day of
October 2022 by a vote of __6__ ayes and __0__ nays.
