It appears that the sq. footage changed slightly from what was origianlly presented. Saying that I do not think it is
signifigant enough to warrant holding up their permit. More than likely the extra sq. footage will not mean
addtional water consumption so I am OK with the lesser fee. Sorry for the confusion.
John & Gary,
Between myself and the contractors, we had been in touch with John regarding the water
connection fees that would be due for the Klain building at the Village of West Clay and the
Founders building at the Village of West Clay. I have John's email from 10/12/06 giving the fee
amount, based on the square footage and use information the builder had provided regarding
the Klain building. I then forwarded this number to the builder, so that he would be able to bring
in the check for the water when he came in to submit for the permit. Also, a representative for
the project of the Founders building contacted Utilities, and John let me know by phone on
10/11/06 what the fee for that building would be. I again passed that information to the builder;
so that they would be able to prepare a check for their submittal.
I
Dick then brought over his calculation sheets for these buildings sometime later. I did not look
at the amounts on those sheets at that time, as I assumed they would match what John had
provided to me. However, I noticed today when I went to process the transactions, as both
applications have now been submitted, that the amounts listed on the sheets provided by Dick
do not match what was given to me by John. The fee amounts provided by Dick are more than
what I had from John, and therefore the checks I now have from each builder are less than what
is listed on Dick's sheets.
I am not sure what to do. Gary, I have included you on this, as Dick is out of the office. Could

either/both of you please advise me on how to proceed? I am listing below the amounts
calculated for each building.

Michael,
I did want to let you know that I got a phone call from John Duffy of Carmel Utilities this
morning. Your water connection permit will cost: $4,425.18. You can either come in and pay
that prior to your submittal meeting, or you can bring the check when you come in for the
submittal meeting. When you pay for this permit, we will need to know the name of the
excavating company that will be excavating for the lateral connection to the utility lines. That
company must hold a current bond with the City of Carmel Engineer's office. If you have any
questions about this, please let me know. (This permit is issued out of the Building & Code
Services office-not the Carmel Utilities office, even though it is for them.)

from the state regarding windows in a rated corridor on an exterior wall located
on the property line. Is this something they told you about? There variance will
