1. Asphalt shingles (not fiberglass)
are installed over 30 lb. felt roofing.
Shingles are seal-down type for extra
years of dependability. A continuous
ridge vent and perforated soffits in a
6-inch overhang provide air flow.
2. The classroom arrives at the site bearing
the inspection seal of all necessary state
agencies. The unit is ready to be bolted
down, plugged in and turned on for education.
3. Roof trusses have a pitch of 2:12. The
center beam is designed for maximum
strength and minimum interruption of
the ceiling. Trusses and beams have been
certified by state building departments.
4. Sixteen lighting fixture panels, each
with four 4 ft. bulbs, are recessed into the
suspended ceiling for ample candlepower.
5. Suspended ceiling uses 2'x4' pre-finished
acoustical lay-in panels. This double web
grid system meets ASTM specifications.
R-22 insulation resists heat and cold.
6. Exterior entrance light.
7. Teacher's closet contains 5 full width
shelves and a locking door.
8. 1 O-inch steel perimeter I-Beam frame
provides positive support for entireGlassroom.
9. A galvanized steel moisture barrier is
heavy enough to stop vermin. This barrier
holds the R-19 fiberglass insulation in place.

10. Electrical wiring is all-copper
construction installed in EMT
conduit. Connection is through a
100 Amp (min.) breaker-type
service panel. Duplex grounding-
type receptacles are strategically
located.
11. Unideck is built in one piece, then
split for construction of transportable
units. This assures a smooth fit when
the classroom is assembled at the site.
12. Floor covering is a 58 oz., 100%
filament olefin carpeting with unitary
backing that meets HUD & FHA
certifications. It will provide a
seamless appearance.

centers, with R-11 faced fiberglass insulation.

fully insulated and equipped with panic
hardware. Doors and equipment meet
handicapped codes. Location may be
changed to suit the installation site.

27. Layout of piers and supports is
carefully designed to balance the floor
load throughout the classroom, with no
soft spots. Hurricane tie-downs (not
shown) girdle the structure and attach
to piers, providing positive anchorage

Each unit contains its own thermostat

MODULAR RELOCATABLECLASSROOM SPECIFICATIONS
The relocatable classrooms must be equal in quality and design to the specifications as
manufactured by New Castle Modular, Inc., New Castle, Indiana. The following
manufacturers will be considered, providing their classroom building equals or exceeds
the quality specified, and they can provide a specific type, size, function, and
arrangement specified.

Substitution of manufactures will not be allowed. The naming of manufacturers is done
for the express purpose of establishing a basis of quality, durability, efficiency,
appearance and simplification of maintenance and not for the purpose of limiting
competition.
All bidders are required to name the manufacturer as part of their bid.
All bidders must provide the school corporation name, contact name, location and
telephone number of five verifiable installations where they have previously constructed
and furnished classrooms in the State ofIndiana that met all necessary codes and the
specifications described herein.
The unit shall measure 24 feet by 44 feet installed on the job site. Classroom area will be
clear span. Center support post will not be accepted.
Floor Construction: Frame assembly shall be a 10" junior I beam, perimeter type, with
longitudinal floor design to accomplish a minimum live load of one hundred pound per
square foot. Outrigger frame will not be accepted. Floor decking shall be %" tongue and
groove OSB by Georgia Pacific or equa~ glued and stapled on to 2x6 floor joist, 16" on
center. The floor insulation shall be R-19 (six inches) fiberglass as manufactured by
Manville or equal. Continuous, 30 gauge, galvanized steel bottom metal will be used by
a moisture and vermin barrier. The pier layout to achieve the building load shall be
designed by the manufacturer. The owner will install the piers to grade level. Tie downs
will be furnished by the bidder.
Stoops, steps, ramps, walks, as required, will be by owner.
Side Wall Construction: Classroom walls will be 2x4 construction, SPF #2 or better
studs, 16" on center side walls with R-ll (3 W' inches) fiberglass kraft faced insulation.
Interior wall covering of prefinished, real hardwood oak: veneered plywood paneling, y.."
thick by Georgia Pacific or equal. Simulated wood grain finish on plywood paneling will
not be acceptable.

Exterior Wall Construction: Exterior covering shall be fu.ctory applied .024 baked
enamel, vertical (no horizontal or diagonal application will be accepted) aluminum siding
in 12" wide pieces. Application shall be such that each individual 12" piece is
interlocked and stapled into place with not exposed fasteners. Siding in 8' sheets will not
be accepted. The only exposed fasteners (screws) will be at the top of the skirting Z
channel. Skirting material will be identical to the siding material. All exterior walls,
gables, and fascia board shall be covered or enclosed with matching or accenting
material. Exterior wall sheathing shall be 7/16" OSB.
Roof Construction: Roofsheathing shall be 7/16" OSB glued and stapled 24" on center.
Insulation shall be R-22 (7 inches) fiberglass insulation with vapor barrier. Roofing
material shall be half lap, 30# feh paper under asphalt, seal down shingle as
manufactured by IKO. Roof to have a two twelve pitch, six inch over-hang and
continuous ridge and soffit ventilation. Humidistat ventilators will not be accepted. Two
27" tall laminated 2x4 beams shall be used as the centerline structure.
Electrical Wiring and Lighting: Manufacturer shall use copper wire of required size and
it must be installed in rigid conduit. Supplied duplex outlets, dedicated HV AC outlets,
one clock outlet, emergency lighting (with battery pack), sixteen recessed lighting fixture
panels (surface mounted fixtures are not acceptable) - each panel containing ( four) T -8,
4'bulbs, with electronic ballasts, exit lights (with battery packs) located inside classroom
over each door, intercom speaker with call button, coaxial TV outlet, exterior light and
100 amp panel box. Final connection between the electrical panel and the metering point
will be by Owner. Manufacturer shall supply conduit runs for fire alarm system with
fixtures supplied by owner. An electric wall clock of suitable size to be seen the length
of the building shall also be provided by the bidder.
Door, Wmdows, Hardware: Entry doors shall be 3068, fully insulated 16 gauge metal as
manufactured by Amweld Corporation with LCN closures (#1460). Entry doors shall
have 8" x 16" light and be equipped with Von duprin panic devices (22EO x 3') and
entrance hardware (230NL) equipped with Best Lock Company construction cylinder.
Door frame and jamb shall be hollow metal. Wood or aluminum trim around the door
will not be accepted.
Windows shall be 46" x 36" aluminum horizontal sliders, painted, insulated glass, storms,
screens and latching device as manufactured by Kinro Manufacturing. Each window is
50% operable. There shall be three (3) windows per classroom. All windows shall be
provided with room darkening shade suitable for use of audio-visual equipment.
Ceiling: Suspension system shall be manufactured by Chicago Metallic Corporation.
System to be commercial quality double web construction. Main runner #211 .015 metal
thickness, 4' tee to be interlocking tee #1214.015 metal thickness, with a hemmed wall
mold #1420. System to meet ASTM classifications. Material to be cold rolled electro-
galvanized stee~ installed per manufacturers recommendation. Ceiling tiles shall be
2' x 4' Celotex Baroque, 5/8" acoustic~ mineral composition. Gypsum ceilings are not
acceptable.

Chalkboards and Tackboards: Two 4' x 8', chalkboards, fused enamel steel with
aluminum frames, solid chalk tray and map rail. Two 4' x 4' vinyl covered tackboards
with aluminum frames as manufactured by Claridge or equal.
Floor Covering: Carpet to be 100 percent filament olefin with double-lock unitary
backing that meet HUD and FHA certification, with a minimum of26 oz.lsquare yard
finished pile weight. Total weight of carpet shall be a minimum of 58 ounces per square
yard. Carpet will be glued down directly to flooring with glue as recommended by
manufacturer. Carpet will be equal to the quality of that of Aladdin. A copy of the carpet
specifications shall be supplied with the bid. Vinyl cove base is to be used as trim.
Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning: HV AC shall be Trane through the wall units.
Three 15,000 BTU/5 KW units with separate thermostat control on each unit, shall be
installed in the classroom. A minimum one-year full and five-year limited
manufacturer's warranty for this equipment shall be supplied with the bid. No
substitutions are allowed.
Fire Extinguisher: Ten pound ABC dry chemical fire extinguisher as manufactured by
General or equal. UL Rating 10A/80BC.
Coat Rack: One (1) 60" x 12" chrome plated coat rack as manufactured by Emco or
equal.
Teacher Closet: 2' x 4' teacher's closet shall be provided with locking door and 5
shelves.
Guttering: Gutters and downspouts shall be installed on the job site by the bidder. All
guttering shall be 5 inch seamless, aluminum, commercial grade, and nailed securely to
the end of the rafter.
