off of City Center Drive and the petitioner will probably return at some point in time when building 93 is developed and request a variance The square footage and materials are consistent with the Ordinance Department Comments Rachel Boone The Sign Ordinance permits one ground identification sign per street frontage and the petitioner has two therefore the petitioner is allowed two signs There are three entrances to this site and the petitioner was advised not to apply for a third sign but to apply for a variance later when that portion of the site is being constructed The three direction signs are in compliance20 square feet 4 feet tallthe design is consistent with the entire site At this time the Department is recommending positive consideration Note The wall signage is not being 07080022 ADLS Amend North Meridian Medical Pavilion Signage The applicant seeks approval for 6 new signs The site is located at 12188 A B N Meridian St It is zoned B 6 Filed by Doug Staley Jr of Staley Signs Inc Doug Staley Jr Staley Signs 1133 Burdsal Parkway Indianapolis Also in attendance David Campbell Property Division of North Meridian Medical Office Bldg The site is located at 12188 North Meridian Street A and B Buildings The applicant is seeking approval for six new wall signs Two of the signs will be located on Building A currently occupied The remaining four signs will be located on Building B which is currently under construction Note A variance will be required for the number of signs and for two signs to face a public right ofway for both buildings The request for variance will be heard at the September BZA meeting The signs facing Illinois Street will be 115 square feet of sign area per the Ordinance and is being requested by the applicant The signs facing Meridian Street are 95 square feet as approved by Variance and this is what the applicant is requesting The signs will be internally illuminated individual channel letters with white faces The logos may not exceed 25 of the total signage area Department Comments Rachel Boone The Department is recommending positive consideration of the sign package as presented Susan Westermeier made formal motion relating to the number of signs and for two of the sign to face public right ofway 6 Docket No 07080021 ADLS Amend Key Bank The applicant seeks approval for exterior building renovations and site changes The site is located at 501 E Carmel Dr and is zoned B8Business Filed by Thomas Mesuk of Gensler Architecture Design and Planning Worldwide Thomas Mesuk Architect Gensler Architecture 48 Wall Street Suite 900 New York New York 10006 architects for Key Bank Also present Christine Stanfield Key Bank The petitioner is proposing renovations to the existing building located at 501 East Carmel Drive The changes involve a stucco band at the top of the building new roofmg and a brick stain on the existing brick surface Other changes involve new lighting fixtures and new signage Currently the bank has a sign facing AAA Way and one facing Carmel Drive A third sign was proposed on the north side above the ATM and a ground sign at the corner of East Carmel Drive and AAA Way The color and stain of the stucco and brick were shown The existing trim around the windows the under side of the soffit and the doors will be re painted a white color Christine Stanfield commented that preference of Key Bank corporate is to maintain the two wall signs such as they have currentlynot the pylon signpass on the sign at the end of the canopy for the drive thru and reduce the size of the ATM sign to meet the requirements Department Comments Rachel Boone The signs facing east do not face a public street or right ofway and would not be supported by the BZA for a variance The size of the ATM is larger than permissible and is being reduced to three square feet Either the wall sign facing Carmel Drive or the ground sign is permissible but not both Christine Barton Holmes commented that the petitioner is primarily up dating and cleaning the fagade Scott Brewer has reviewed the landscape plan and the Department is recommending positive consideration The sconce lighting is acceptable to the department Mr Mesuk sated that the landscaping plan was primarily for the front of the entry off of AAA Way that was to be up dated with new plantings There is not really much of an overall in regard to the existing Wayne Haney noted that the improvements give the building more a residential look than commercial and he was agreeable to that Are the down spouts being taken out Also the ac load will be increased with the dark roof Mr Mesuk responded that the down spouts will remain the three dimensional asphalt shingle will be used and will replace the existing roof which is showing
