Morrissey Redevelopment Assistant CARMEL REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION November 15,2006 Ms. Angie Conn Department of Community Services One Civic Square Carmel, IN 46032 Dear Ms. Conn: It has come to our attention that the Board of Zoning Appeals and the Plan Commission are concerned about various requests from the Arts and Design District requesting the change to business use on certain live/work units. Both the BZA and the Commission have expressed a concern about adequate parking for retail users. The CRC is actively pursuing additional surface parking in the Arts and Design District including a partnership with Hearthview Development for the block bounded by Main Street, First Avenue NW, First Street NW and Second Avenue NW. This mixed use project would include a structured parking facility that would have approximately 200 public parking spaces. Based on Walker Parking Consultants report there is currently adequate parking. This additional parking should alleviate any concerns about future retail parking in the Arts and Design District.
