Docket No. 170-02 ADLS Amend; Carmel Foot & Ankle Center Petitioner seeks amended Architectural Design, Lighting, Landscaping & Signage approval to replace an existing ground sign. The site is located at 277 East Carmel Drive. The site is zoned B-8 Business. Filed by Sherry Marchbanks of A Sign by Design. The applicant is requesting ADLS Amendment approval of a new ground sign. Please see information packet for elevations and details (see information booklet submitted last week with the agendas). The sign as presented would require two variances. The Ordinance permits a maximum of 45 square feet for the sign and the proposal is for 50 square feet. The Ordinance also requires each tenant to share equally on the ground sign if used. The Carmel Foot and Ankle Center is approximately 30 square feet in area and the other portion about 18 square feet in area. The Department is not in favor of this request and would like to see a revised sign plan and one that either ties more closely to the overall site design (building materials) or follows the streetscape design of the address markers installed by the City similar to what McDonald's was approved for. The Department recommends that the Special Studies Committee approve the request only after all comments and concerns have been addressed. Note: The item only requires approval by the Special Studies Committee. Committee Report 2002-12-3
