HomeMy WebLinkAboutExecutive Order SF-2024-12 - Rescind JB-2005-04, Alternative Fuel or Hybrid City Vehicles CITY OF CARMEL, INDIANA EXECUTIVE ORDER SF-2024-12 WHEREAS, the Indianapolis region has been designated a non-attainment area by the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); and WHEREAS, the air quality in this area is negatively impacted by the number of vehicles, the lack of mass transit as well as sprawling development patterns; and WHEREAS,the City has been negatively affected by the rising price of gasoline and diesel fuels; and WHEREAS, the City of Carmel desires to take positive steps to reduce our consumption of gasoline and diesels; and improve our air quality and control our expenses; and WHEREAS,the City of Carmel seeks to show that it is responding to the regional federal non-attainment status so that we are not penalized with the loss of federal transportation and economic development funds. NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority granted to me as Mayor of the City of Carmel, Indiana, I, Sue Finkam, do hereby declare and order that, the prior Executive Order JB-2005-04 is hereby rescinded,and the following provisions shall be effective on and after March ', 2024: All new vehicles purchased by the City of Carmel will be alternative fuel or hybrid vehicles unless an exception is made by the Executive of the City of Carmel.
