The fence will be 36” in height and set back 12” from the sidewalks. Being on a corner lot the standards are to have a visual clearance of 15’ along each property line. We are requesting a clearance of 12’ along each property line. We would like to install the fence for privacy, security and with considerations for aesthetics. We have dogs and even though we have invisible fence we feel both people walking on the sidewalks and we would feel more secure with a visual fence between the two. We also would like the fence to provide extra security and privacy because we have a deck on the 2nd St NW street side of our house. We are requesting the variance for the 15’ triangle set back to 12’ to provide a nicer balance on the front of the house between the corner and the gate at the walkway to the front door. There is currently a bush in the triangle that the previous owner planted that will be removed when the fence is installed. This variance will also allow our dogs to have more space in the yard. The fence will be a 3’ high black metal fence similar to others in the area.
