HomeMy WebLinkAboutLetter #77 Donna Niesen Butler, Bric From:donna niesen <niesedo@yahoo.com> Sent:Monday, April 15, 2024 4:02 PM To:Butler, Bric Subject:JGV Follow Up Flag:Follow up Flag Status:Flagged To: Carmel Plan Commission; City Councilors; and Mayor Sue Finkam From: Donna Niesen, Jackson’s Grant Resident I am writing to express my opinion regarding an impending decision impacting property that sits within eyesight and earshot of my recently completed new home. As a resident of Jackson’s Grant’s Hamlet subdivision, there are a variety of reasons why I am against the addition of a daycare/school in the Jackson’s Grant Village development.  Traffic concerns – As many have already expressed, the additional traffic this proposed facility will th bring is of utmost concern. The roundabout at 116 and Springmill is already a heavily utilized and dangerous intersection. Adding an entrance to a daycare in close proximity will back traffic up into the roundabout and create issues that are felt beyond this intersection and in all directions. To avoid this, traffic will divert through the Hamlet section of JG (my neighborhood), likely at high rates of speed.  Walkable community/corner store feel – Like many who chose to live in JG and especially in the Hamlet section of JG, I wanted a walkable community, nice neighborhood, and if there was to be commercial components, they were corner store establishments that furthered this neighborhood and feeling of community. A daycare/school is not in line with this atmosphere and promise to the current and future residents of the community.  Noise Pollution and Eyesore – It is not clear from the proposed rendering if/when/where there will be outdoor space for the daycare. Additionally, there are no indications on how and when that outdoor space will be used by the proposed daycare. One of the selling points of the Hamlet units is their unique rooftop deck spaces. Currently, noise from the JGV construction carries onto those rooftop decks. Permanent daycare noise from the outdoor space and constant traffic are not a welcome addition.  Taxes – what overall impact on combined property tax and LIT does the proposed daycare facility provide vs residential property as the primary residence of high-income earners? Thank you for your consideration. Please vote against the proposal. 1
