ACHAS NOTED53C814 GENERAL NOTES FOR PROPOSED WALL:1.FOUNDATION SOILTHE FOUNDATION SOIL SHALL CONSIST OF A MINIMUM 6 FEET THICKNESS OF NEW ENGINEERED FILL PLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REPORT OF GEOTECHNICALENGINEERING EXPLORATION. THE NEW ENGINEERED FILL SHALL BE PLACED WITHIN THE PLAN FRONT LIMITS OF THE SRW (INCLUDING THE REINFORCED SOIL ZONE) ANDBEYOND THE PLAN LIMITS AS DEFINED BY LINES DRAWN DOWNWARD AND OUTWARD FROM THE EDGE OF THE FOUNDATION AND BACK EDGE OF THE REINFORCED SOILZONE AT A SLOPE OF 1H:1V.2.CONTRACTOR SHALL CONSTRUCT THE RETAINING WALL IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF AN ALLAN BLOCK MANUAL TITLED "INSTALLATION GUIDE, A GUIDEFOR INSTALLING ALLAN BLOCK SEGMENTAL RETAINING WALLS".3.BLOCK AND CAP UNITSWALL FACING UNITS SHALL CONSIST OF ALLAN BLOCK AB CLASSIC UNITS WHICH ARE TO BE 8 INCHES HIGH, 12 INCHES FROM FACE TO REAR, AND 18 INCHES WIDE AT THEFACE, COLOR AND STYLE TYPE AS SPECIFIED BY OWNER. WALL UNITS SHALL BE PRODUCED BY A LICENSED MANUFACTURER AND SHALL HAVE A MINIMUM 28 DAYCOMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 3000 POUNDS PER SQUARE INCH (PSI) IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASTM C872. THE CONCRETE UNITS SHALL HAVE ADEQUATE FREEZE-THAWPROTECTION WITH AN AVERAGE ABSORPTION RATE OF 7.5 LB/FT³. WALL UNITS ARE TO BE BATTERED AT 6 DEGREES. CAP UNITS CONSISTING OF ALLAN BLOCK (AB) CAPSSHALL BE INSTALLED.4.DRAINAGE AGGREGATETHE SELECT DRAINAGE FILL MATERIAL SHALL BE CLEAN WELL-GRADED CRUSHED STONE OR CRUSHED GRAVEL WITH "GW" CLASSIFICATION PER THE UNIFIED SOILCLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. THE MAXIMUM PARTICLE SIZE SHOULD BE 0.75 INCH AND CONTAIN LESS THAN 5 PERCENT FINES. THE DRAINAGE FILL SHALL BE INSTALLED FORA MINIMUM DISTANCE OF 2 FEET BEHIND THE GEOGRID WALL FACING UNITS.5.REINFORCED SOILSHALL CONSIST OF FREE DRAINING GRANULAR MATERIAL CLASSIFIED AS "SW" OR "SP" PER THE UNIFIED SOIL CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM. THE GRANULAR MATERIAL SHALLBE PLACED IN MAXIMUM 8-INCH THICK LIFTS AND COMPACTED WITH AN APPROPRIATE VIBRATORY WALK BEHIND COMPACTING EQUIPMENT TO 98 PERCENT OF THESTANDARD PROCTOR (ASTM D698).6.GEOGRID (MIRAGRID 5XT OR EQUIVALENT)THE GEOGRID SHALL BE INSTALLED WITH ITS STRONG DIMENSION (I.E. ROLL DIRECTION) ORIENTED PERPENDICULAR TO THE WALL FACE. THE GEOGRID ELEVATIONS ANDLENGTHS SHALL BE INSTALLED AS SHOWN IN THE SECTIONS BELOW AND SHEET C600. LENGTH OF GEOGRID IS MEASURED FROM THE FACE OF THE WALL TO THE BACKOF THE GEOGRID. GEOGRID SHALL BE PULLED TIGHT AND PINNED DOWN PRIOR TO PLACING AND COMPACTING ADDITIONAL REINFORCED SOIL.7.AGGREGATE BASE LEVELING PADTHE AGGREGATE BASE LEVELING PAD SHALL CONSIST OF ODOT ITEM 304 AGGREGATE COMPACTED TO A MINIMUM DRY DENSITY OF 98 PERCENT OF THE STANDARDPROCTOR (ASTM D698). THE MINIMUM DIMENSIONS OF THE AGGREGATE BASE LEVELING PAD ARE 2 FEET WIDE BY 6 INCHES THICK.8.UNDERDRAINTHE UNDERDRAIN SYSTEM SHALL CONSIST OF 4-INCH DIAMETER CORRUGATED PERFORATED N-12 OR EQUIVALENT PIPE WRAPPED IN A NON-WOVEN GEOTEXTILE. PIPEINVERT SHALL BE BELOW BOTTOM OF BASE BLOCK AND PERMANENTLY DISCHARGED BY GRAVITY FLOW A MINIMUM OF 20 FEET BEYOND THE FACE OF THE WALL WITH AMINIMUM GRADIENT OF 1 PERCENT OR DIRECTED TOWARD THE STORMWATER SYSTEM.GENERAL CONSTRUCTION NOTES:1.CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFORM TO ALL STATE AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS.2.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE FOR LOCATING AND PROTECTION OF UNDERGROUND UTILITIES IN THE VICINITY OF THE WALL.3.CONTRACTOR IS RESPONSIBLE TO MEET THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE REQUIRED DEMOLITION WORK OF THE PROJECT.4.THE OWNER IS RESPONSIBLE THAT THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE WALL AND THE EARTHWORK SHALL BE MONITORED BY AN ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN UNDER THEDIRECTION OF THE PROJECT REGISTERED PROFESSIONAL GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER.5.CONTRACTOR SHALL TAKE CARE NOT TO CONTAMINATE THE SAND BACKFILL, DRAINAGE GRAVEL, GEOTEXTILES, OR PIPES WITH CLAY OR OTHER POOR DRAINAGEMATERIAL.4 02/28/2024 ADLS COMMENTS
