Councilors and Mr. Butler,
My family and I live at 1187 Westvale Drive in Jackson’s Grant. We are unable to attend the Jackson’s Grant board
meeting tonight (due to after-school commitments for our children while my husband is working a 24-hour shift as
an IFD firefighter). I’m writing because I want to be sure the necessary parties are aware of our household’s opinion
on the new development in our community.
We support the daycare that is planned in JG Village. We love this neighborhood and surrounding community so
much that after moving into our home at 1158 Frenzel Parkway in 2017, we decided to build our forever home on
our current lot which is right around the corner from our first JG home.
When we moved into Jackson’s Grant, we did not have any children. I worked full time for almost 20 years until I
quit my job in 2019 largely due to being unable to find a quality, affordable, convenient daycare for my then one-
year-old. I am now a stay-at-home parent to my 5yo and 2.5yo, and I know from first-hand experience how
beneficial this proposed daycare could be for many of the young families and working parents in our community.
Our HOA Board Members sent a so-called “survey” about the daycare to Jackson's Grant residents back in January.
It’s my understanding that the survey was not emailed to every resident in the neighborhood, and it felt like the
proposed daycare was described in a negative way. I expressed my concerns about this to RaeAnna Rushton from
AAM via email on January 25. In the future, it’d be beneficial for these types of surveys to be sent to ALL residents
and it’s very important that the surveys are strictly fact-based to eliminate any bias (unconscious or otherwise).
Members of the younger demographic in this neighborhood are in an extremely busy season of life ...whether that is
as a working parent or those who stay at home with their children. We feel frustrated that our voices are being
overshadowed or even unheard because many of us are not available to attend the meetings when important matters
are discussed and group decisions are made.
Again, my family is in support of the project and the daycare that is planned. And we look forward to hearing about
what other businesses will be added to our community as the development grows.
Thank you for your time and attention to these matters. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
