EXECUTIVE ORDER
SF 2024-16
WHEREAS, Executive Order JB-2009-3 was issued on November 16, 2009, establishing
the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Human Relations consisting of a volunteer body of up to
nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor; and
WHEREAS, on October 20, 2020, Executive Order JB-2020-10 was issued, adding the
Director of Human Resources and Chief of Police as ex-officio members to the Commission; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to now allow the Director of Human Resources and the Chief
of Police to each assign a designee to serve in their stead as an ex-officio member of the Mayor's
Advisory Commission on Human Relations; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to now allow, as an ex-officio member of the Mayor's
Advisory Commission on Human Relations; and
WHEREAS, nothing in this Executive Order shall alter the fact that an ex-officio member,
including any designee, shall not count towards the total number of up to nine (9) appointed
members of the Commission.
NOW, THEREFORE, by virtue of the power and authority granted to me as Mayor of
the City of Carmel, Indiana, I, Sue Finkam, do hereby declare and order that, the prior Executive
Order JB-2020-10 is hereby rescinded, and the following provisions shall be effective on and after
April ?.S 2024:
1. The Director of Human Resources, or the Director's designee, will serve as an ex-
officio member of the Mayor's Advisory Commission on Human Relations.
2. The Chief of Police, or the Chiefs designee, will serve as an ex-officio member of the
Mayor's Advisory Commission on Human Relations.
