General Info:
The petitioner seeks sign variance approval to have a
logo consist of 100% of the sign area. Currently, the
sign ordinance (definition of identification sign) only
allows for a logo to comprise 25% of the sign area in a
unified center development. (Even the land owner's
sign package for this site specifies that the logo must
be a maximum of25% of the sign area.)

Analysis:
The logo and company name, HP, will be fused
together to become the whole sign. Hewlett-Packard
has a standard sign/logo for its international branding
and signage. The sign will consist of reverse-
illuminated channel letters (for a halo effect at night).
Findings of Fact:
! 1.) The approval of this variance will not be
116TH ST :I: injurious to the public health, safety, morals,
~ and general welfare of the community
because: the sign will meet all other requirements for the sign package in the Meridian Mark Plaza
I & II development. The logo and company name, HP, will be fused together to become the whole
SIgn
2.) The use and value of the area adjacent to the property included in the variance will not be
affected in a substantially adverse manner because: the sign will meet all other requirements
for the sign package in the Meridian Mark Plaza I & II development. The logo and company
name, HP, will be fused together to become the whole sign.
3.) The strict application of the terms of the Zoning Ordinance to the property will result in
practical difficulties in the use of the property because: The sign design will have to be altered,
possibly forming a less aesthetically pleasing sign to be viewed in the Meridian Corridor.
Recommendation:
The Dept. of Community Services recommends positive consideration of Docket No. 07020024 V and
after all questions/concerns are addressed.
