A- II AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR STANDARDIZATION OF FIRE HYDRANTS IN FUTURE WATER LINE CONSTRUCTION, REPLACEMENT, ADDITIONS OR IMPROVEMENTS CONCERNING MUNICIPAL WATERWORKS SYSTEM OF TOWN OF CARMEL AND PROVIDING SPECIFICATIONS THEREFOR. WHEREAS, the Town of Carmel is the owner of and operates a waterworks system furnishing the public water supply to said Town, its inhabitants and users of water within certain areas outside the corporate limits of the Town of Carmel, and . All hydrants shall have 'two 2 1/2" and one 4 1/2" outlets, with 5 inch or larger valve openi~ and 6 inch gated connections to the ma~Tl; Hydrants shall comply with the American Water Works Association specifications C 502-54 or Underwriters Laboratories Standards. Permit barrel rotation for proper nozzle facing. Permit addition of barrel and stem extensions to meet grade line change~. (d) Provide a main valve that closes with the pressure. V(b) /(c) (e) Have a valve seat of bronze, mounted in bronze which can be removed from above ground. (f) The stem threads shall be sealed by O-rings from the waterway and outside condensation. The threads will be sealed in a lubrication reservoir. \ . (g) All the above hydran;t.,;parts are to be so designed that they can be removed from the hydrant from above the ground without digging or requiring water shut-off except for main valve removal. ,; Section 6: All hydrants shall have a trench depth of 5 feet and either a flanged or mechanical joint inlet. Sec'tion .,:, Nozzles shall be breech-locked for blowout protection. Section, 8: Dra~n valves shall operate automatically with no dr~p rods or adjustable mechanism each time the main valve is opened or closed. The drain waterway shall have a bronze bushing to provide a complete all-bronze waterway for the drain. ~ / Section 9: Hydrants shall be painted yellow.
