HomeMy WebLinkAboutA-19 Waterworks Rates & Charges ~ , , ~ '.' , .- / / /' ORDINANCE NO. /1"/9 An Ordinance establishing rates and charges for the use of and services rendered by the waterworks system of the Town of Carmel. WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of the Town of Carmel has authorized the refinancing of obligations of its water- works and the making of extensions and additions to the exist- ing waterworks system of said Town for the purpose of provid- ing adequate volume of water at proper pressure to the inhabitants of the Town and properly protecting the health, well-being and property of said Town and its inhabitants; and WHEREAS, in order to procure the necessary funds to pay the cost of 'said refinancing and the cost of construction and installation of said extensions and additions, it is neces- sary for the Town to issue and sell waterworks revenue bonds payable solely out of the revenues of said waterworks system, which revenues under the existing schedule of rates and char- ges are insufficient to enable the Town to refinance said obligations and to finance the needed extensions and additions; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees now finds that the exist- ing rates and charges for the use of and service rendered by the waterworks of said Town are too low and are insufficient to enable the Town to operate its waterworks plant properly, provide for depreciation, refinance said outstanding obliga- tions and finance said extensions and additions; that the pro- posed refinancing and extensions and additions will improve the service rendered by said waterworks system and make the EXHIBIT' ;3 same of greater value to the Town and its ;Lnhabitants, and the existing rates and charges should be increased, now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF CARMEL, INDIANA: Section 1. That there shall be and there are hereby established for the use of and the service rendered by the waterworks system of the Town of Carmel, the following rates and charges, based on the use of water supplied by Each user shall pay a m~n~mum charge in accordance with the size of meter installed, for which the user will be entitled to the quantity of water set out in the metered schedule of rates. The charge for a 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch meter tap shall be $ 155 .- The charge for any meter tap larger than 3/4 inch shall be the cost of labor and materials. Collection or Deferred Payment Charge All bills for water service not paid within fifteen (15) days from the due date thereof, as stated in such bills, shall be subject to a collection or de- ferred payment charge of 10% on the first $3.00 and 3% on the excess over $3.00. Temporary Users Water furnished to temporary users, such as con- tractors, circuses, etc., shall be charged for on the basis of the above quantity rates as estimated by the Waterworks Superintendent. Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and ef- fect from and after its passage and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed; pro- vided, however, that the existing schedule of water rates and charges shall remain in full force and effect until the sche- dule of rates and charges fixed by this ordinance shall be approved by the Public Service Commission of Indiana and pInced into effect. - 3 - (' , - Passed and adopted by the Board of Trustees of the Town of Carmel on the I~~ day of April, 1971. ~/~~~~. ~()~ ,- Board of Trustees Attest: ~.&"~/* ~47~<~.::) Clerc-Treasurer - 4 - .....
