HomeMy WebLinkAboutA-22 Waterworks Rates & Charges ORDINANCE NO. R~ An Ordinance establishing rates and charges for the use of and services rendered by the waterworks system of the Town of Carmel. WHEREAS, The Board of Trustees of the Town of Carmel has authorized the refinancing of obligations of its water- works andYthe making of extensions and additions to the ex- isting waterworks system of said Town for the purpose of pro- viding adequate volume of water at proper pressure to the inhabitants of the Town and properly protecting the health, well-being and property of said Town and its inhabitants; and WHEREAS, in order to procure the necessary funds to pay the cost of said refinancing and the cost of construc- tion and installation of said extensions and additions, it is necessary for the Town to issue and sell waterworks reve- nue bonds payable solely out of the revenues of said water- works system; which revenues under the schedule of rates and charges set forth in Ordinance No. ~, adopted ~ v , 19~are insufficient to enable the Town to refinance said obligations and to finance the needed extensions and . additions; and WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees had heretofore, on April , 1971, adopted Ordinance No. A-19, providing for a new schedule of rates and charges to provide sufficient revenues to enable it to refinance the outstanding obliga- tions and to finance the needed extensions and additions; and ~.'\'t1"'>"!1 WHEREAS, said schedule of rates and charges was based upon an accounting study through March 31, 1971, and upon a proposed bond issue maturing over approximately twenty (20) years; and WHEREAS, time now permits an accounting study through June 30, 1971, which reflects growth and increased revenues; and BE IT ORDAINED BY THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF THE TOWN OF CARMEL, INDIANA: Section 1. That there shall be and there are hereby established for the use of and the service rendered by the waterworks system of the Town 0 Carmel, the following rates and charges based on the use of water supplied by said - 2 - ~";" waterworks system: Metered Rates per Month Rate per 1,000 Gallons. The charge for a 5/8 inch or 3/4 inch meter tap shall be $155. The charge for any meter tap larger than 3/4 inch shall be the cost of labor and materials. - 3 - Collection or Deferred Payment Charge All bills for water service not paid within fifteen (15) days from the due date thereof, as stated in such bills, shall be subject to a collection or deferred payment charge of 10% on the first $3.00 and 3% on the excess over $3.00. Temporary Users Water furnished to temporary users, such as contractors, circuses, etc., shall be charged for on the basis of the above quantity rates as estimated by the Waterworks Superintendent. Sec. 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and all ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith, including Ordinance No. A-19 and Ordinance No. .I::J -9, are hereby repealed; pro- vided, however, that the existing schedule of water rates and charges shall remain in full force and effect until the sche- dule of rates and charges fixed by this ordinance shall be approved by the Public Service Commission of Indiana and placed into effect.
