Hinshaw, President Board of Trustees Town of Carmel Carmel, Indiana [H:C9 1959 Re: Application for Federal Grant wro- Ind-48 Thru: Indiana stream Pollution Control Board Dear Mr. Hinshaw: It is a pleasure to advise that your application for Federal .grant funds under the provisions of Public Law 660 has been reviewed by this office. The sewage treatment facility you propose meets criteria for Federal aid and is included in the approved water pol- lution control plan .for your state. This project has received approval and priority certification from the state water pollution control agency. We therefore tender herewith an offer of a Federal Grant in the amount of $87,955.20. Inasmuch as project bids were received prior to this tender of offer, your project has been classified as a pick-up. . The amount of the offer is based upon actUal'construction bids and associated project costs. Considerable thought has been given to our participation in Contract No.2. However, on the basis of statialllents sublll1tted by your consulting engineer and endorsed by the TOwn, it appears that the best interests of the TOwn will be served in this particular.instance by authorizing the. award of Contract No, 2 to.the Janitz Brothers. The decision: of the Public Health Service in this matter is based wholly upon docUlllentation prepared .byrepresentatives of the Town; For your information, the following estimated project costs have been deemed to be eligible for Federal participation:. construction costs of $241,684; engineering services of $15,000; legal fees. of $10,000; administrative. costs of $2,500, and a contingency fund of $24,000 for the total eligible project cost of $293,184. Eligible construction CGsts are confined to the selected bid prices of Contracts Nos. 1, 2, and 3, in addition to Items 1 and 2 of Contract No.4. . ..2- DEt 9 195'9 Mr. E. K.
