Re: Application for Federal Grant
wro- Ind-48
Thru: Indiana stream Pollution Control Board
Dear Mr. Hinshaw:
It is a pleasure to advise that your application for Federal
.grant funds under the provisions of Public Law 660 has been reviewed
by this office. The sewage treatment facility you propose meets
criteria for Federal aid and is included in the approved water pol-
lution control plan .for your state. This project has received approval
and priority certification from the state water pollution control agency.
We therefore tender herewith an offer of a Federal Grant in the
amount of $87,955.20.
Inasmuch as project bids were received prior to this tender of
offer, your project has been classified as a pick-up. . The amount of
the offer is based upon actUal'construction bids and associated project
costs.
Considerable thought has been given to our participation in Contract
No.2. However, on the basis of statialllents sublll1tted by your consulting
engineer and endorsed by the TOwn, it appears that the best interests
of the TOwn will be served in this particular.instance by authorizing the.
award of Contract No, 2 to.the Janitz Brothers. The decision: of the Public
Health Service in this matter is based wholly upon docUlllentation prepared
.byrepresentatives of the Town;
For your information, the following estimated project costs have
been deemed to be eligible for Federal participation:. construction
costs of $241,684; engineering services of $15,000; legal fees. of $10,000;
administrative. costs of $2,500, and a contingency fund of $24,000 for the
total eligible project cost of $293,184. Eligible construction CGsts are
confined to the selected bid prices of Contracts Nos. 1, 2, and 3, in
addition to Items 1 and 2 of Contract No.4. .
