Hi Andrea,
Unfortunately I will not be able to attend tomorrow morning. However, if you (or
someone else) would like to pass along my comment below – it would be my strongest
suggestion.
Many people who currently live in Carmel, or even nearby, have adult children that will
never be able to live independently. There are few options for those kiddos once their
parents pass away, or are no longer able to care for them. It is truly heartbreaking. I
know there are options like ARC etc. but there is a giant gap in housing options for those
who have modest means to support them. Perhaps they are not qualified for Medicaid
– but also do not have enough resources to afford to live in Carmel. I know that an
option for parents to be able to know their children will have a home in the future -

would have tremendous demand! I wonder if funding could be through a public/private
partnership to get it started? And perhaps families could leave bequests to continue? I
would venture that a workable solution could exist – and placing this type of housing in
the center of town would also provide a resource for low skilled employees for our local
businesses within walking distance. Just a dream perhaps – but one that many families
would appreciate nonetheless.
