Some of you will receive a certified letter but for the rest of you, I wanted to inform you through this email. After Mother passed away I decided I would like to share her home with other people. At first I just notified Rosemeade and some of you did use it, but it was not enough to keep up with the utility bills for that building. I decided to see if I would like to open it up as an airbnb. Before I went through this process of applying for a permit, I wanted to know whether it would be a hassle for me and if it would disrupt the neighborhood. So in March I posted it on the Airbnb site, I was totally taken by surprise that so many people were interested. I decided that my main goal would be to rent to only 1 person a week. Most people just stay overnight on the weekends. Many of them are either attending concerts or having games at Grand Park in Westfield. However, I do have two people coming today and staying for 5 days due to a convention that they are attending. Also, I ended up having 2 people last week because an elderly woman from Fairgreen Trace called in desperation to let her use it while the contractors were replacing her floors due to water damage. 1 am saying that because I want you to know that most of the time I will be renting to only 4 renters per month. However, there could be some exceptions. I have attached the notification to this email in case you would like to attend the BZA meeting. Please forward this if I have missed someone. Shard owns the property adjacent to mine; she has been my neighbor for 37 years. During that time, Shard has always been friendly, helpful, trustworthy and considerate. Her property has been kept up immaculately for almost four decades now. During the ten years Pauline lived in the guest house, I cannot think of one single problem. She has rented to neighbors and Air B&B guests recently. They have been so quiet that I didn't even realize Sharry had ever had renters until late last summer. There is a large parking area and no on -street parking. When Shard has tenants, she is always home to ensure a pleasurable experience for her guests and the neighbors. I wholly support Shard's petition and believe her guests will be another asset to the neighborhood and an excellent example of what a good short-term rental in Carmel should look like.
