13 PROJECT CONDITIONS

1.4 SUBMITTALS
A Product certificates signed by manufacturers certifying that their products comply with specified
requirements.
1. Manufacturer's certified analysis forstandard products.
2. Analysis for other materials by a recognized laboratory made according to methods established by the
Association of Official Analytical Chemists, where applicable.
B. Samples of each of the following:
1. 31b of mineral mulch for each color and texture of stone required for Protect, in labeled plastic bags.
2. Edging materials and accessories to verify color selected.
G. QualificationdataforfirmsandpersonsspecifiedInthe "QualityAssurance" Articletodemonstratetheir
capabilities and experience. Include lists of completed projects with project names and addresses, names
and address of Architects and Owners, and other information specified.
D. Planting schedule indicating anticipated dates and locations for each type of planting.

PART 2 PRODUCTS
2.1MATERIALS
ATrees, Shrubs and Plants: Provide trees, shrubs andplants ofquay 1Hy, size, genus, species andvariety
complying with recommendations and requirements of ANSI 260.1 American Standard for Nursery Stock`.
Provide healthy, vigorous stock, grown In recognized nursery in accordance with good horticultural practice
and free of disease, Insects, eggs, larvae and defects such as knots, sun scald, injuries, abrasions, or
disfigurement. All plants to bear same relationship to grade when planted as In nursery.
B. Backfllling ofPlantingPitsandPlantingBeds: UsebackfIllasspecified hereinasamixture contalning1
part topsoil and 2 parts soil excavated from pits and beds.
G. Nutrients: Introduce the following nutrients per cublc yard of soil mixture:
1.5 lbs. Bonemeal.
2. 8 lbs. 7 4-0 -6 slow release commercial fertilizer.
D. Mulch: Shredded 'Midi' bark r-3° In size.
E. Stone: Local washed granite shall be W to 1W In size.
F. Soll separator. A woven, flat polypropylene yarn shall be 'DeWitt Weed Barrier or approved equal.

PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
ALayout individual treeandshrub locations andareasformultiple plantings. Stakelocations andoutline
areas and secure Architect's acceptance before start of planting work. Make minor adjusI itents as may
berequested.
B. Excavatetreepitanddrillan8inchdiameterholetoamaximumdepthof8feetoruntilasandor
gravel seam is reached. FIII french drain with stone and cover with a soil separator.
G. Set balled and burlapped (B$B) stock on layer of compacted planting soli mixture, plumb and In center of
pitortrenchwithtopofballatsomeelevationasadjacentfinishedlandscapegrades. Whenset, place
additional back around base and sides of ball, and work each layer to settle backfill and eliminate voids
andalrpockets. WhenexcavationIsapproximatelytwothirdsfull, waterthoroughlybeforeplacing
remainder of backflll. Repeat watering until no more is absorbed. Water again after placing final layer of
backflll.
3.2 MAINTENANCE
A Begin maintenance immediately after planting. Landscape Contractor shall maintain trees, shrubs and all
plantsuntilfinalacceptance, butinnocaselessthan30daysaftersubstantialcompletionofplanting.
B. Maintain trees, shrubs and other plants by pruning, cultivating and weeding as required for healthy growth.
Restore planting mulch. Reset trees and shrubs to proper grades or vertical position as required. Spray
asrequiredtokeeptreesandshrubsfreeofinsectsanddisease.
33INSPECTIONANDACCEPTANCE
A When landscape work is completed, Including maintenance, Architect will, upon request, make an inspection
to determine acceptablIlty.
B. When Inspected landscape work does not comply with requirements, replace rejected work and continue
specified maintenance until re- inspected by Architect and found to be acceptable. Remove rejected plants
andmaterials promptly fromproject site.
G. All plants shall be guaranteed for one growing season.
