Follow Up Flag:Follow up Flag Status:Flagged Hello and with much respect we would like to make our views known to the planning and zoning commi?ee of Carmel. We have lived in Carmel for over 20 years at 14224 Chariots Whisper Dr in the Saddle Creek neighborhood. We are very very concerned with the amount of dense housing that we now have. We love so much of what Carmel has done…i.e. Arts and Design, Mid Town, roundabouts, libraries, restaurants, paved roads, Monon Center and much more. The concern we have now is that those beau?ful ameni?es are no longer so beau?ful or easy to access because of popula?on explosion, cars, delivery vehicles, dense and not so dense housing. Do we really need to develop every inch of space for the almighty dollar?? Roundabouts are now stop signs at many ?mes of the day, not able to process the amount of traffic as they were designed…and especially when so many don’t know how to navigate them properly. We believe that Carmel is past the breaking point for relaxed, quiet, special living here. WE HAVE GONE TOO FAR. Living on the West side of Carmel was a dream for us because of the lack of commercial establishments, low noise, and traffic. That is no longer how we feel, and mind you, we do realize there has to be some development, but there is a breaking point, and Carmel has passed it. Folks can no longer turn out onto the major roads from their subdivisions without taking their lives into their hands because of the amount/speed of traffic. Then driving becomes aggressive because people are rushed and upset. This isn’t how we should want to live and Carmel could do something about that. We would respec?ully ask you NOT to allow a dense housing/commercial development at the SE corner of 146th/Towne Rd. We must lead with our hearts as well as our heads and opt out of allowing these developers to rape our land and walk away from the future expense of the infrastructures. Do we really need this in our city?? The vehicle noise between 141st and 146th on Towne Rd. has increased exponen?ally in the last 15 years to the point of not being able to enjoy our own backyard ameni?es in the evening. This development will add to the noise, destroy mature trees, increase expense and pollu?on, generally making it worse for those already living in Saddle Creek. Commercial drive thrus do nothing for all of us except pollute the air and promote obesity by si?ng in an air condi?oned car. Our community should be leading the na?on in many areas of quality living with reduced decibel noise adherence, air quality, no plas?c bags… Please have ALL Carmel residents in mind when you look at these developments, and put YOUR families in the houses adjacent to them before looking at just the P&L statements. We wish Carmel to be a properly populated place for the people. Respec?ully and pleadingly, Gary and Dena Thomas 1
