Dear Mr. Reis:
At the meeting held Monday, August 28, 2006, the Carmel Advisory Board of Zoning Appeals took the following action
regarding the Developmental Standards Variances (V) filed by you for the property located just west of the intersection
of 122"" St. and Pennsylvania St.
APPROVED: Docket Nos. 06070014, 06070015 & 06070018 V Development Standards Variances for reduced
number of parking spaces, total number of signs and signs to be oriented north/south.
APPROVED: Docket No. 06070016 with the Condition that each Renaissance wall sign would be no larger than
five (5 ') feet by forty-seven feet and three and seven-eighths inches (47' - 3 7/8") and the ground sign would be no
taller than six (6) feet, including the base, and conform with the Carmel Sign Ordinance.
WITHDRAWN: Docket No. 06070017 V.
Please be advised that per Section 30.05.05: Time Limit of the Zoning Ordinance, the aforementioned Development
Standards Variance approvals are valid for one (I) year. By that time, either continuous construction of the
improvements must be undctway, or a written request for a one-time, six-montbextension afthe approvals must
have been received and approval granted by this Department. The expiration date of the approval is AU8uSt 28,
2007.
Please be advised that per Section 25.07.07: Sign Permits of the Zoning Ordinance, the signs approved pursuant to
the aforementioned Development Standards Variances must be established within one (1) year. The expiration date
of the approvals is August 28,2007.
When applying for applications for permits regarding the improvements contained within this approval,
please include a copy of this letter with your application materials in order to assist the Department's review.

The Carmel Plan Commission took the following action at its meeting October 17, 2006 regarding the Development Plan'
and Architectural Design, Lighting, Landscaping and Signage (DP/ADLS) for the Renaissance Hotel located at 11911
North Meridian Stree~ Carmel, within the US 31 Corridor Overlay.
APPROVED: Docket No, 06080014 DP/ADLS, Renaissance Hotel. The Commission voted 7 in favor, two
opposed, none abstaining, thereby granting the petition.
In order to assist the Department's review, please attach a copy of this letter when making application for
permits regarding the improvements contained within this approval.

The applicant seeks approval to construct a full-service hotel.
The site is located at 11911 N. Meridian St. and is zoned B-6/Business within the US
Hwy 31 Corridor Overlay.

The applicant seeks approval for a full service hotel. The proposed site is an undeveloped parcel
on US 31, west of the City Center Drive (1 22nd St.) and Pennsylvania St. intersection. This item
was heard at the September 19th Plan Commission Meeting. No one spoken in opposition.
As proposed this use and structure comply with the zoning regulations. Staff has worked closely
with the petitioner to make necessary revisions prior to this public hearing. The submitted
informational packet details the most recent proposed site and structure.

Special Studies Committee meeting. Members suggested that additional details be added to the

Studies Committee Meeting for further discussion and review. If the above listed items are
presented and are satisfactory, the Department will recommend this item be sent to the full
Plan Commission with a positive recommendation.
