5. EXIT ARRANGEMENT
a. Common path of egress travel (1014.3)
1. In occupancies other than H-1, H-2 and H-3, the common path of egress travel; shall not exceed 75'-0"
2. Exception #1 allows common path of egress travel to increase to 100’ for B, F and S, if the building is equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system
b. Arrangement of exits (1015.2.1 and 1015.2.2)
1. If two exits are required, they shall be placed a distance apart equal to not less than one third (exception #2) the length of the maximum overall diagonal dimension of the building or area
to be served measured in a straight line between exits.
2. The diagonal distance of the Public area served as shown on plan.
c. Travel distance (1016.1)
1. In a building equipped with an automatic sprinkler system throughout, the maximum travel distance shall be 250 feet to at least one exit.
d. Exits through adjoining rooms (1014.2)
1. Egress from a room or space shall not pass through adjoining or intervening rooms or areas except where such adjoining rooms or areas are accessory to the area served, not high
hazard, and provide a discernible path of egress travel.
6. EXIT CORRIDORS FIRE RESISTANT RATING (1018.1)
a. For use groups M, B, S and F1 with an occupant load greater than 30 for a fully sprinklered building the required fire resistant rating is 0 hrs per table 1018.1.
7. EXIT CORRIDOR WIDTH (1018.2)
a. Minimum width: 44 inches (36 inches where serving an occupant load of 50 or less)
8. DEAD END CORRIDOR (1018.4)
a. Maximum dead end: 20 feet.
b. Exception #2 allows a max length of 50’-0” for use groups B and F for a fully sprinklered building.
9. EGRESS DOORS (1008.1.1)
a. Clear width: 32 inches (36” door) min. / Maximum leaf width: 48 inches / Minimum height: 6’-8”
b. Door swing:
1. Must swing in direction of travel when serving an occupant load of 50 or more
c. Projection into clear width (1008.1.1.1)
1. Doors in the fully open position shall not reduce a required landing dimension by more than 7 inches.
d. Panic hardware: not required at main automatic sliding entry doors per (1008.1.4.3)
